Yeah I'm getting it tomorrow. Gonna be awesome, been waiting for this for ages.
It won't run to well on my computer I don't think the specs are definatly a bit high.

Apart from the processor my computer is better than the reccomended requirements luckily, I think the graphics are going to be something else with specs like that.

Oh dear lol! I'm running my Intel C2D at 3.5GHz now, and I have 4gb ram, nVidia 8800GT 512mb overclocked to the max, so it should run alright!

Playing the game I get about 20-40FPS which isn't bad, but anyone with a computer much less powerful than mine then you're gonna struggle! Rockstar did a crap job at making this on PC, but now it's installed and working it's brilliant.
If anyone has got it then my windows live i.d. is Zizzle77 :thumb:

Holy crap that takes power.
One of the reasons is probably Vista :'( Sorry if you like it but we have it and it blows. Windows 7 is very promising though. I got a DVD with it.
I'm getting a new(used) computer soon. It's a single core 3.4 with 1GB of RAM. Good thing I don't plan on getting this :)
The thing I didn't like about the game is the accent though. It's kind of annoying. We have it for XBox but I barely play.

Have Vice City, and San Andreas. I stopped playing them a while ago because it made me too aggressive. Played IV and I didn't like it as much.
However I do use GTA sometimes instead of self harming, I use Man Hunt and stuff too. The violence is fun. But if I'm in a good mood I don't play them, so no, I'm not getting this. Hot specs though 0.0

I have Windows 7 and it uses even more RAM. Currently with Vista, Avant Browser (6 tabs open) and MSN messenger (8 conversations open) i'm using about 1.3gb ram, with GTA IV running up using well over 3.5gb ram.
Anyone looking to buy GTA IV, it will not run on a single core processor, and you need at least 2gb ram.
If I have the money next year, I may upgrade my graphics card, although because the game is coded so badly, until Rockstar release a patch, I'm getting about the best performance you can get out the game right now. Even people with super-amazing computers aren't getting much better results.
It also has no AA which really sucks!

Wow, that's definitely a coding-based performance issue. Even Crysis runs better than that, and it looks better doing it, too. I'm not even going to look into it for 1920x1200 until they fix it :/

The coding is terrible! :( I hope the patch fixes a lot of stuff. I get better graphics and framerates on older games!

Ok, tonight I'm going to install GTA IV on my spare pc, specs are as follows:
Intel Pentium D 2.80GHz Dual Core
1.5GB RAM
nVidia GeForce 7300GS 256MB
40GB SATA Hard Drive
This is slightly below but near the minimum spec, I'll post results later on lol.

Not bad considerying half of it I found at the dump, the rest of it cost me next to nothing with used bit from ebay :)
The game loaded up fine, however after loading a game, this happened:

Cuz, ya know, I certainly can't play The Orange Box at maxed settings at 1920x1200 with a midrange graphics card, totally useless...

I'm barely getting 15 FPS with this game, on lowest.
Getting a new computer for christmas though, should run a hell of a lot better.
I'd have to agree, it hasn't been optimized for PC's at all.
Currently running it on a P4 3ghz HT 2gb RAM X1600... Pro? I think, runs like crap. ah well new computer should fix that.

Woo a nice stable 34FPS on my new system:D

Yeah, but it's still pathetic. I get at least 30FPS on Half Life 2, the episodes, Portal, and Team Fortress 2 with the settings maxed at 1920x1200 on an overclocked 9600GT, this game probably won't even get 15FPS if I install it.

It's a very bad port. The game relies heavily on the processor, and with a dual core you're not likely to see past 40FPS. The people with the quad cores are the ones getting much better performance. The game also uses a lot of graphics memory, with the settings set on medium for me, it's using about 98% of my video memory.
I really hope rockstar can sort this out, because I love the game itself.

Yeah, it doesn't look like its been optimized for PC's hardware AT ALL, By the looks of it the game needs almost an entire rework for it to fix all the optimization problems its suffering. For one, since when did VRAM limit anything?
VRAM isn't exclusive to Graphics, RAM can be used for the same thing without any problems whatsoever.
Certainly is a great game though:P
