Hello, Im looking to make some money for a new MacBook, and was wondering how much I could get for one of my old PC's. Its one I built, amd here are the specs, what else would I need to know to get an accurate price?
Shuttle
Operating System:
Windows XP Home Service pack 3 - Would be fully restored and installed fresh
Processor and RAM:
AMD Athlon 64 processor 3700+
2.41 GHz 1.0GB of RAM
Graphics card:
NVIDIA GeForce 6800
Monitor:
20" (Not exactly sure, estimate)
1280 by 1024
Yes, the monitor would be included.
If a mouse and keyboard are wanted, I could get those as well.
Just looking for a ball park, thanks!

well it really depends on the condition of them and how much memory is used up on it

The entire thing is in great condition, and what do you mean memory used up on it? It would be completely wiped out, so the only thing that would be on it is the OS.

Well he would probably reformat the hard drive to delete everything, so no memory (other than the OS) would be taken
Im not really sure how much, but you could try checking ebay or craigslist for similar computers and see a price range

OKay, I will look into that. Im really just looking for enough for a new MacBook, so even if its worth more, Ill only sell it for the necessary amount for my new laptop. So I was hoping its worth just a tad more than that, I paid almost $2,000 for it so it best be worth at least $1,300. >.<

Fat chance. You'll get around $500 at the most I'd say. A graphics card that's four generations old and a single core processor with only a gig of DDR RAM, I mean really. You can get obscenely fast computers for $1,300 now. The processor's probably worth $40, the video card less than $80, the RAM maybe $10. You can get a monitor like that for between $100 and $400 probably, depending on if it's a TN, MVA, or IPS panel and if it has any bells and whistles. Windows XP is worth $90, so you're looking at a bit over $300 plus maybe $150 at the most for the power supply, case, optical drives, HDD, depending on the configuration, and you have to factor in several years of use for devaluation.

Yeah the thing with computers is that there's so many choices out there with competitive prices that you won't get the price you're looking for. Buying from you won't include a warranty either.
If I were you I would keep it.

If the maximum res the monitor can support is 1280*1024, then the chances are that its a 17". And I'll have to agree it would only be worth about $300 or so

i completely agree except maybe a 100-300$ less
i mean look at this
http://cgi.ebay.com/AMD-Athlon-64-X2-4200-9500GT-512MB-Dual-Core-Gaming-PC_W0QQitemZ350134463847QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDesktop_PCs?hash=item350134463847&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A15|39%3A1|240%3A1308

But that's ebay and it doesn't have a monitor. If he's selling a decent monitor it will go for quite a bit, possibly as much as the computer.

Yeah i just built a really good computer off of Tigerdirect and it costed like $670. It had a quad core 2.66 GHz, 9800 gt overclocked, 4 gigs of ram. With a moniter the price could easily jump up pretty high. So I wouldn't expect the price in the 1000's.

Without the moniter, I'd say 200$. Old graphics card, little ram, slow processor. Be sure to wipe your HD before you sell it.
