I dont believe it, I just dont believe it! I had to remind my mom like, 3 times this week what day my birthday was this week, now my brother my mom and sister go to get me something, my bro tells me instead of buying me anything, my mom buys my sister this expensive ass present for christmas, ok I ALWAYS get waaay better grades than her, I always help around the house, and I never keep my mom up until 3 am with a project like she does, I feel so freaking unloved by my mom and jealous of my sister atm, its not like I care what I get for my birthday! its the thought that counts imo, but come on, she never does any thing to deserve something so expensive as a new computer, and I'm always doing stuff for my mom, I know this is very rantish I just wanted to roll off some steam......

So this is basically what I have gone through.

I call it Middle Child Syndrome for me.

Are you also a middle child?

There are at least 3 kids in your family. I have 5, and I am stuck in the middle. I grew up with good grades, never in trouble, doing stuff and helping around the house. I also felt like I was swept under the rug so to speak. My mom complained about buying me things, and bought my brothers things for no apparent reasons. Things that they did not need. New video games, new shoes when they each had perfectly good ones, new toys. I went without. Mind you, I don't play video games all that much, but still. I would have liked some new shoes once in a while, or a new book or something.

It took a lot of screaming and crying at my mother one night for her to realize what she had been doing to me. I told her "I need to feel like I matter too. I always feel like I don't get anything, but those other two sons of yours do. I want my good grades hung on the refrigerator too." I said some other stuff, but you got the idea.

She told me that she was sorry. I had never mentioned any of this before, so she hadn't noticed. I never really asked or begged for new things. I mentioned them in passing when I needed something very badly, and even then I often waited for a while.

Have you tried talking to her? Telling her how you feel. You don't have to bash your sister about all of this. Just tell her that it hurts when she pays more attention to your sister and brother and you feel that you need some more attention. If it's grades that you are feeling that you aren't getting attention for, have a reward system. For every grade above a 90 in core subjects you could get 5 dollars. Or something. Doesn't have to be the same thing, but either way.

I say talk to your mother. The worst that can happen is that she does not agree, and if so, you have tried.

Well Mr. Kid, you must make it work.

Don't do it as soon as she walks in the door, or while she is on the phone. Do it after dinner maybe? Sometime when you can both talk rationally and calmly.

Talking to her would be best. It's probably the best option.

Otherwise, you can just act like your other siblings.

Now, I don't mean drop priorities in school etc. just don't help out as much. If she gets mad then you can talk to her. She might realize what she did.

I'm the second oldest of the family and this year I was spoiled compared to everyone else. Slowly, I drifted away from my family to go walk the town or just sit on the computer and program. They realized that they had been neglecting and apologized.

You need to remind them what they have! Someone who works hard and cares. They shouldn't waste something like that.

On the other hand. Maybe your parents think you're that strong? Maybe they just think that you make it on your own. You're content with what you get. But that doesn't mean they should ignore you.

I still have to think about how old I am too. I still think 2 years younger sometimes.
