Hi everyone, I haven't posted in this section for a while...

Anyway, there's something wrong with my laptop.
It's a school issued laptop, by the way. So that means it has Deep Freeze and stuff on it.
It won't connect to my home wireless network. It's password protected too.
So I bring up the Wireless Networks window and click on my network. The password box comes up, I type in the password, and it acts like it's connecting. So I wait a while, and eventually the "Connecting" window goes away. But it doesn't actually connect. In the Wireless Networks window, the status of my home network changes to "Automatic," so it at least did something. But it still won't connect, there's still that red X on the tray icon. When you double click my home network, it still acts like it's connecting, but it never really does.

Yes, the password is correct, because I have tried using the same password on many other computers in the house, and it works.

And yes, I've tried repairing the connection, disabling it, and re-enabling it.

However, keep in mind this is a school laptop so it doesn't have admin privileges.

Anyone know how to fix this?

How would this help? His ISP probably doesn't even know about his wireless router at home (Unless they issued it), let alone how to fix a wireless problem, it's just not their department.

@OP, can you connect with the laptop through a wired (Ethernet) connection, directly to the router?
Can you access the router's config page? If so, have you tried temporarily disabling the passcode and seeing if you can connect then?
Can the laptop connect to any other wireless networks?

What would his ISP have to do with this? Absolutely nothing. :P

They're not going to help him because it has nothing to do with them or their connection.

Ah, Deep Freeze. :P I manage quite a few computers that use that program. Very useful. :P

It can be removed too. The older version is easy to disable, the newer is harder, but it can be removed if you know what you're doing, even without the password.

Not that I'm going to get into that, because that's not what you're asking, and that's BaaaaaAaAd. :P

But, anyway, have you ever had this laptop connected to your Wireless?

If not, what type of security do you have on your Wireless? Is it WPA? WPA2? WEP?

If the Laptop is an older laptop, then if you have WPA2, the laptop's wireless card may not know how to use WPA2 and will fail when trying to connect.

Also, make sure you don't have MAC Filtering turned on for your Router.

If you set the router up, and didn't set up MAC Filtering or don't know what it is, it's doubtful you enabled that, so don't worry about it.

Which version of Windows is the Laptop running?

It uses WPA2, I have been able to connect to my home wireless network before, it just stopped working one day.

And I'm also still able to connect to my schools wireless network, just not my home one.

It's using XP Pro SP2

Hmm...

The Laptop is Frozen, right? Meaning, Deep Freeze is turned on, Yes? And, has been since before the problem started?

If so, it shouldn't be anything wrong with the computer.

Did you try rebooting the router? Or, just for the heck of it, try momentarily disabling Wireless Security on your Router and see if it'll connect?

Yes, Deep Freeze has always been on.

I'll try rebooting later and see what happens.
