Hey guys,

I'm 14 years old, really skinny, like sometimes you can see my chest bones when i have my shirt off. Could someone please help me and give me tips/advice on how to gain weight. I have a really fast metabolism but everything I eat doesn't really make a difference. I could eat McDonald's for a whole day and I don't even think that I would gain any weight.

HELP!

Regards,
Simon.

Chances are, you have a very high metabolism. Which means as you eat, your body will digest and take in all your food too fast and too efficeintly so it doesn't store much as fat. Okay?

Well, you don't want to gain fat because I don't think you will be happy to gain fat rather than muscle. How tall are you and how much do you weigh?

and I'm around 50kg.

Thanks.

50kg= 110 lbs.
163 cm = 5'4"

Okay, so you are relatively small. I get it. Really, I wouldn't try to really gain weight. You are growing and you are going to get larger I am assuming. Look at your dad or mom. If they are pretty thin, chances are, you will be too. If not, you will grow. If you want to put on weight, don't just eat fat. Eat healthy, you can eat a bit more than normal, but not binge. And excercise to put on muscle mass.

Muscle is better than fat, seriously. (Not only do the girls prefer it,) but fat effects your health, and your heart. Muscle weighs more than fat, and not only does it look better than bulge, but it will help you when your an old, not-5'4-and-110-pound man. :P I suggest exercise toward muscle. :D

Well you can certainly get big 2 ways. By gaining fat and gaining muscle. But let's stick with gaining muscle for fat increase in a body is not good for anyone unless suggested by a professional doctor [licensed]. Try doing some weight lifting, note that over weight lifting is very bad for you. Now you may be thinking. "Weight lifting, wouldn't that make me lose weight?" . Yes and no, firs of all you'll get some muscle eight and then a body tonality which will give you a much more defined and larger look. Now this will mean a somewhat larger diet since you'll be using alot of energy and such from working out. DO NOT eat fatty foods or junk foods. Just because of high metabolism , does not prevent other problems such ass cholesterol, diabetes, heart attacks and such.

Well, you're really not that skinny, but if you want to gain weight any sort of regular exercise will do it. It really depends on what you want, though. If you want big, bulky muscles do a lot of pushups, situps, pullups, squats, etc. and lift a bit. If you want all-around, compact muscle you can do more aerobic forms of exercise such as running, swimming, and biking combined with some pushups and situps. If you build a lot muscle it's best to go for a healthy balance between everything, so don't just stick with one exercise.
