well i think the big hint there is that she doesn't want a bf right now. right now its probably best to give her some space and just stay friends. maybe at some time in the future when she is ready and her life has settled down a bit then talk about it again.

Means she dosn't like you but respects you enough to make up a story so you don't cut your wrists or anything or become a really sour person.
