After four months of putting in applications anywhere and everywhere, I finally got an interview at K-Mart. If I actually get hired, it'll drive me nuts to see all of the Martha Stewart merchandise everywhere, but I think I can deal, haha. Anyway, common sense tells me that the interviewer is going to want to know, in specific detail, when I am available. In my case, Thursdays don't work too well. I see my therapist every Thursday, and I don't want to have another case closed. I know that if I specifically point out that I am not available on Thursdays that I'm going to be asked why - with reason, of course, but I don't know how to respond. What is a good reason that I could give, other than the one at hand? (And, yes, I understand that lying isn't a good idea, but I'm afraid that if I give the real reason, I'll kill my chances right then and there.)

i don't think they would have any right to know why you can't work at a particular time. anyways, i know here they can't use religion to discriminate so maybe you could go with a religious reason?

Tell them it's just for evaluations (which is what it's for, I assume). Make sure you mention that your sane enough to work.

I was thinking of using a religious reason (although I am not religious,) but how does that pertain to a Thursday? The position might not even be a possibility now because I live in Kentucky and this position is in Indiana (within ten minutes of where I am.) The problem is, I would have to have my dad take me to the district high school in that county to get a work permit, and not only is he drunk most of the time, but he has, literally, almost cost me my life because of his driving several times in the past month.
I'm considering calling HR at another store I put in for using their system (but did not recieve an interview date for) because it would be closer on the public transportation line and there would be no fuss about a work permit.
It's 2am, I have to be up in a few hours and I'm aggravated.
Good night.

Tell them the truth - you have to see a therapist because the amount of times you've killed an employer is just beyond a joke.
Just kidding of course, maybe you could tell them that you have music lessons or something? I don't think telling them the *exact* truth would work out too well in your favour.
