Just wondering, as in all the magazines they show only women.

You don't just get anerexia. It's basically a syndrom or issue brought on by not eating. It' changes ones mind and all they can really think about is how fat they are. So they intentionally starve themselves and in some bad cases, they make themselves throw up. I was once anorexic.

Yes, anyone can devlop an eating disorder, it's not by gender, or race, or social class

Yes. What Greg and Gwyn have said is brilliant.
Urgh. I hate it when people use the term 'manorexic'... Especially when they're using it as a joke (yes, people ARE ignorant enough to joke about eating disorders).

Yep. Guys with eating disorders just get ignored instead of splashed all over tabloids. Hard to say which is worse, really.

The worse thing is when actors, who super-slim-down for roles, get praised for doing so. No one even thinks of the internal damage to their minds and bodies.
And another sad thing is that actresses have basically been doing that for every role they get, and either, no one notices (because they just look the same as everyone else) or they just get branded as "wanting to fit in".
-I do agree that normal guys with eating disorders are ignored-

It's an ignored illness in general... not many people are looking for it, and even fewer are looking for it in males

That's not what I meant. The OP mentioned that it's usually only women with eating disorders that get shown in pop culture/mass media. It's because the mass media ignores males with eating disorders.
In the 'real world' anyone willing to seek help can get it - though males may feel more ashamed or scared to ask for help, because society generally regards eating disorders as 'teenage-girl' diseases, and because they think asking for help will make them appear weak.
