I don't think this is true.
There is no evidence suggesting that they do either.

Females are statistically more inclined to cut, while males are more likely to punch walls and other people.

As Sugar and Spice noted,
A woman's insecurities are more likely to end up being expressed inwardly, resulting in self-degradation and perfectionism; while a man's insecurities are more likely to be expressed outwardly, usually by degrading someone else so as to boost personal self-esteem.
Obviously this is just a general outlook of things and there are many exceptions.
