Well I was thinking about all the screwed up stuff about myself today and I started wondering, is there such a thing as personality disorder?

Borderline personality disorder, or BPD, sounds kinda vague to me, like I *almost* have a personality disorder or something.

So does anyone know if personality disorder exists, or does the Borderline in BPD mean something different than what I'm thinking?

Personality disorders are very hard to diagnose. Most people have most of the symptoms of all the different personality disorders at one point or other. They only apply if your symptoms don't qualify as anything else, another mental problem didn't start at the same time, and only if the symptoms are severe. Unless all of the symptoms are exactly like you all of the time then it's unlikely you have it. If you just feel the symptoms sometimes you probably don't have it.

I don't know how old you are, but I wanted to mention that it's inappropriate to be diagnosed with a personality disorder if you're still in your early teens because your personality isn't finished developing yet. Only when you reach your later teens (around 18) can it even be determined.

Also, it's almost impossible to self-diagnose any personality disorder accurately. For example, it's hard to judge for yourself whether or not your overly manipulative; maybe you're manipulative at a normal level and are too self-judgemental at the same time. It's better to leave this in the hands of a professional.

Personality disorders (pds) are real. The one you looked up is the pd with the most varied presentations. A pd is only diagnosed in people around the age of 18, after thorough testing and symptoms have been present for at least one and a half years.
