It's ok if you don't tell her.

Some people, if they found out about what you do, would simply tell you NOT to do it anymore, thinking that would cure everything. Though such people may have good intentions, stopping self-injury does nothing to address the reason for your desire to self-injure in the first place.

It's like if you told your mom you had a bullet in your arm and so she took you to a doctor and put a bandage over the wound. Sure, maybe you're not bleeding any more, but you've still got a bullet in your body - and THAT is the real wound; something which abstention can not fix.

Feeling guilty about hiding things from your parent is natural, and it is fine to feel that; but, at the same time, you should know that it is also fine to hide something like this from her and try to work things out some other way.

If you feel like your self-injury is affecting your life in a negative way then there are plenty of people here and online who would love to help - myself included! :)

Just telling her how you feel is a good start and going to the doctors about it, is even better, As previously mentioned, telling her about your S/H is your choice, but she can only help you with it if she knows about it, or she can only get a professional to help you stop if she knows about it, really its your choice.
