I really want to love this girl. She's awesome and I thought I loved her, but I can't tell if I do or not. The first girl I ever felt very strongly about turned about to be the queen bitch of the school, and she turned some friends against me, so I don't know if that's affected my ability to let people in or what the deal is.

I want to love her, but I can't. Does that make any sense? I keep listening to songs about love and reading poems and thinking "I feel this and that, but not this and that". It's really stressing me out. Can someone help?

Here's the thing:

You can't force yourself to be in love with someone. It just doesn't work like that. Love is something that needs a chance to grow, you need to give it time, and sometimes it won't happen. Sometimes you just have to be friends with the person and nothing more.

Why do you want to be in love with this person if you aren't? Trying to be in love with someone isn't going to end well usually, especially if you get with them and find out they're really not for you.

I think the best thing in this situation would be to just let it go, and wait until you really find that someone you love. Only then will you be ale to have a really special relationship with someone that actually means something to you. But, I think you should be friends with this girl, as she sounds like a nice girl to be around. And who knows, maybe eventually you will start to build a love for her. Whatever happens, love takes time, so you've just got to let it do its thing.
