Since I've been both maybe I can explain it more.
When your frozen your pretty much treated like a guest, you can't post, view profiles, shoutbox, only view threads and whatever else the guests see. A freezing is only for a set amount of time though usually about 1 or 2 weeks but it could be more depending on the crime.
When your banned you can't do anything at all but view the index. A banning is usually permanent but in some cases it's for a set amount of time or if the admins see fit that you can return.
Hope that helps

In the VT Kingdom, being "frozen" means you are arrested.
Being "banned" means you have been executed.
But for the normal, simple way of describing it, Addison got it.

This question has also been asked a handful of times in this forum before.

Banned isn't gone forever. Quite often we (or we certainly used to) ban people for a set time. So for example someone can be banned for 3 months, or 6 months or 12 months. Banning is more of a long term thing. Being frozen is more temporary, for one or 2 weeks depending on the seriousness.

Yes, sometimes executed civilians can become resurrected.

The only reason why people were banned (given the banned face) was because the frozen face wasn't in use until about a year ago. But now all temporary bans are given the frozen face.

It's a good job I put that bit in brackets, at least I don't look like a complete fool now ;)
