Just to piggyback on recent religious threads:

Discuss; has religious fundamentalism harmed the secular values that the United States was formed upon?

America is not a secular nation. It is a free nation. Our freedom is believe what we want. I don't see whats so bad about religion, I dont think it should regulate government, but I believe the morals it supports are good morals that should be practiced.

Really? Because I think religion oppresses individuality and rationality (using religion as a scapegoat to answering life's daily questions and concerns). Also, please define "good morals". How can morals be "good" if they truely offend and belittle so many people?

Good morals: Abstinence, faithfulness, honesty, fairness, not murdering people.

Bad morals: discrimination, judging, not loving eachother

From what I know, people came to America in first place for religious freedom. They didn't want to be forced into the one religion of the king. Thus Americans have the freedom to choose any religion to follow, or no religion at all. It's right in the first fucking amendment...freedom of religion. Why do people have a problem with this?

Now I've got a question for you, James. What is your fucking beef with Christianity/religion of any kind? We have the freedom to worship any fucking thing we want...I could be a faithful believer of the fucking flying spaghetti monster if I wanted to, yet you continue to dis anyone who is Christian. I never see anyone dissing atheists. I know I certainly don't have a problem with atheists, because I really don't give a shit what other people believe. I just don't know what your problem is with Christians...

Although this isn't directed at me. I only have one problem. One big one.

We've discussed that and I lack to see how that is a problem.
