Start > Control Panel > Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices > Sounds and Audio Devices
Click on the 'Audio' tab.
Under 'Sound playback' is your sound card selected?
-If not, drop down the list, select your sound card, press 'OK', and try to play an audio file.
--If this fails, post here that it didn't work.

try plugging headphones in the spot for your speakers and see if there is any sound because if there is you know its not your computer its the speakers and in that case you just need to buy a set of external speakers which will sound better anyways.

Hit the Windows Key (Little Button that looks like a flag on your Keyboard), and Press "R" while you have the Windows Key held down. A little box should show up. Let off both keys now. Type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotes) and press "OK."

A window should pop up listing a whole bunch of stuff, like Display Adapters, Keyboards, Processors, etc. Near the bottom, see if there is a thing that says something like "Sound, Video and Game Controllers."

If there is, hit the "+" next to it, and tell us what is listed under that.

If you see anything ANYWHERE in the Window that popped up that has an "!" next to it or a "?" or says "Unknown" then tell us that as well.

It would be good if you could take a screenshot of the Window that pops up. Take the screenshot after you've hit the "+" on the Sound devices.

You can take a screenshot of JUST that window by pressing the ALT Key and while holding that down, press the "Prtscrn" (Print Screen) Button on your Keyboard. Then, open MS Paint (Windows Key + R, type "mspaint") and paste the screenshot in there by clicking the "edit" menu and hit paste.

Then, hit File, Save As, and save it and give it a name, and under "save as type" choose JPEG.

Now, upload it to a website that hosts images for people, if you have a photobucket or something else you use, use that. If you don't, go to http://tinypic.com/ and hit "browse" and choose the screenshot you just saved. Hit Upload, then you'll get a page saying that they've got your image. Under the "links to share" section, the second one, that starts with "" copy what's in that box, and paste it here and post.

Here is an example of what I am looking for a screenshot of:

I'm assuming that they just stopped working, so when did they stop working? What happened right before they stopped working? Are you the ONLY one who uses that computer and if not, could someone else have done something before they stopped working?

If you know what kind of sound card you have, try going to the manufacturer's website to download available drivers.
