So, I was looking through my grade 10 history notes and found the poem I wrote for the Trench assignment.
Trench Poem
Just hours ago we fought
It was nothing like I thought.
All around me bullets fly
Beside me is where my best friend lie.
Who knew this is how it would end
And to his family I must send.
The bad news, and the grief.
That they wished they would not recieve.
Not only is it their loss, but it is also mine
I keep telling myself I'll be fine.
But to this day, It was still my best friend who died.
