What Do You Think Of This Plot?

There is a group of people looking for jewels on an uncharted island, and the island's covered with, beasts and monsters, and then they find the jewels, but the jewels are cursed, and the members of the group that make it back to their home, start getting killed off, one by one, and the jewels they had disappear when they die, they disappear back to the island. In the end two people get away from the curse.

The story is based around a character named Christopher Harper. He's the kind of main character.

But, usually stories have a main plot, and a side-plot of the main charecter, what they do off the scenes...

I like the basic idea

My question is, what will be the thing the characters are striving for? Is there any way they can try to survive the curse? Or are they just going to be picked off one after another with no way to stop it?

You need something they can try to achieve.
