Could we PLEASE put a sticky in teen sexuality titled "Are you gay?" or something along the lines of that? In the body of this thread, it should be explained that looking at gay porn blah blah we ALL know the posts, does not make you gay.

I would support this. So many people create threads "Am I Gay?". People could ask their questions in there.

I'm sure we used to have one a couple of years ago. We definately need one though, the amount of 'am i gay?' threads is just stupid.

i support this idea
there are WAAAY too many questions like that. and it's sorta annoying, because if it wasn't full of "am i gay", i'd be actually brousing that catagory more often

Sticky (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showthread.php?) Isnt that it? I mean, maybe rename it to get more attention? but yeah. I agree.

Just as Leigh mentioned, that link is broken, Addison ;) There's no thread ID in the link.

Oh i agree 110%. There are so many of them and most of the time it's the same reasons that you have to explain, and the same reasons of why they think like this.
I know that this topic is probably the widest ranging of all of the topics in puberty, but it would be nice to clean it up a bit, the forum that is. :-)
Who's going to do it?

I really don't see a problem with the Am I gay threads. Trying to make a sticky would be a failed effort because people will still make threads and merging them altogether would make things messy and unorganized. Also the forum was created for people to make threads who are having trouble with sexuality so I think this would be counterproductive to the purpose of it.
Just like P101, relationships, and other things the same questions are asked repeatedly because teenagers have the same issues and problems. I think its just something we have to deal with until a better solution is found... and I don't think yet another sticky is because it has a track record of not working like its intended.

In P101, we have a penis size sticky (I think, I haven't been in there in year).
We can bitch at them if they don't read the sticky first. It just spams the whole fucking forrum up and people who have genuine and actual concerns get pushed off the page and their questions possibly unanswered

i counted 7 "am i gay?"(with that same name) threads on 3 pages of the teen sexuality forum. theres one by waterswimmer.
anyways, we could talk about how delicious it would be to have a new sticky out there for months. but if we go ahead with this, whos feeling like typing the thread?
actually, im not doing anything tonight, or tomorrow. i'll write it.

I don't really think we should have one because no matter what people are going to make them anyway. No matter what we do people won't read the stickies or search for other threads so it'll just be wasted effort.

That's only if it's decided that it's stickied nothing has been confirmed yet.

I agree along the lines with what Ant says.
Here's the story in a different light - group therapy vs single therapy. People obviously want to make threads about THEM. They don't want to have their questions in with another person's. Situations will get mixed, answers will be confused, and people will be even more confused before they clicked on the thread.

Yeah there is in P101 but it really doesn't cut down on the threads created to make a noticeable difference.
I find that a bit harsh to say they aren't 'genuine and actual concerns.' Their questions are just as valid and I looked through 10 pages of threads in that forum and I see no threads with no reply.

It's not going to stop people making threads, but if their question has already been answered in the sticky then the poster can be directed to that thread instead of 10 people replying with the same thing

I agree with everyone really.
Shouldn't the p101 moderator decide?

I think it's a good idea to make a new sticky specifically addressing this question even though I'll be the first to admit that it won't cut down on new threads. Why? Because not everybody who comes through here with that question on their minds will feel comfortable making their own post, and many of those will also not have the search skills required to find another "Am I gay?" post with a similar enough reason for the question that they feel that the answer also applies to them. A sticky would therefore be very helpful specifically because it's a very common question.
Also, I'm generally not in favor of merging posts into the stickies or telling people to "read the sticky". If people want an answer to their specific situation in their very own post I see no reason not to give it to them whether a sticky would answer their question or not.

First of all P101 moderators aren't in charge of the Teen Sexuality forum - Help and advice moderators are.
Secondly 'at the end of the day' the administrators have the final say on all suggestions.

i think we should let the VT members make their threads, because when they have reak questions we should be there to help them

Then it would deminish the purpose of the TS forum. That's what it's there for. To ask if you're gay and what not. But, a sticky would be good for this. I agree with Andy that the amount of "Am I Gay!?" threads is insane.

The forum is about questioning sexuality. If you guys don't like the amount of Am I Gay threads, are you sick off all of the music threads in the music forum too?

OK. OK.
Sorry I just got a little confused. I won't say my opinion any more as it's kinda pointless.
