temperatures at ob/gyn visit

I am fourteen and had my first ob/gyn visit last month... the doc said she needed to take my vaginal temperature.. I was like wtf? she said its used to help determine infections and stuff.. has anyone else had this

I'm pretty sure on average you have to be 16 to have your first gynaecological visit. But I'm a guy and it's not for me to say. The whole Vagina is like many other openings, it is open to baccteria. It's defense is the acid, but if the temperature is off, I think it could house some viruses/baccteria.
