A random thought just popped into my head.
If you were God and were creating the planet again. What would you do differently?
Or what would you do anyway.....

I think I would stop cars from being created. They cause too much fuss....

To be honest, I wouldn't change a thing.
Problems challenge us as a race,
We learn and grow from them.

It's what makes life so beautiful.

Well said :-)
Shame I can't see that in the world at the moment. Good that is.

I agree to both. While the world must have flaws, however I wouldn't say the world is beautiful. In fact, it's far from beautiful. We've still got a lot of work to do to help each other and the Earth.

If I were God I would set up the universe, set up its natura laws, and then not change anything else. Except I would make sure all the religious prophets (aka nuts) died of convenient heart attacks rather young... as God I'd love a world without religion.

If god could stop or make things happen different than we wouldn't have free will.
So I wouldn't want to change anything.

I've gotta agree with that, but I don't know that I wouldn't change anything. For example, I'd definately go for fewer of the more annoying species of insects (flies, mosquitos, etc.). And I'd make the vocal cords of dogs get tired after awhile.

I would get rid of religion. Presto end of a ton of problems right there. I'd rather people have no clue I existed, so I could examine their true nature (i.e. without my influence).

Agree 100%. Religion. One of god's greatest mistakes. :-)
Shame i don't beleive in God.
I'd get rid of Racism. Life would be so much better without it.

A very good question Steph. I must say that this is relevant to my interests.

I'm not quite sure what I would do. Stop many horrible things from happening like 9/11 and the London subway bombs. Stop war from being created. Peace would be worldwide no matter what kind of religious views. Religion wouldn't matter because everyone accepts eachother.

I'd keep races and religions but it would be different. It's just such a big question to answer. If any of us were GOD then we would have a big job to do. I don't know. Maybe it's just something that I can't be very certain on.

There's my two cents :)

I'd stop sin.

Tell me what you mean. Give me examples.

I'd make sure everyone is treated equally and nobody, regardless of orientation, race, whatever, is treated badly.

I wouldn't do anything because no matter what conflict will come.

Requin

Ah, there's truth there sadly :-(
But if there was no religion, racism, disgrimination etc...
It would make wars a lesser occurance, surely???
Or would it be worse??? We need a 'what if?' machine.

I'd also get rid of wasps, they p**** me off. Keep bees though, there amazing.

I'd get rid of humanity's ability to hate. I'd leave the ability to feel dislike or even extreme disdain for someone or something, but I'd eliminate hate. Its too extreme and it causes too many problems. With that I might eliminate greed as well... Without greed or "hate" we wouldn't have so many problems. I mean, I wouldn't want us to all get along and live in a perfect world, we all need conflicts in our lives, but we don't those conflicts that fall at the extreme end of the spectrum. In this process, maybe we should eliminate the other extremes, though that might require the sacrifice of love and/or passion...

Religion does definitely cause problems. Sometimes.

Underground_Network

^^ So does race, ethnicity, and culture as a whole. So should we do away with those things as well?

The Resurrected One
October 22nd, 2008, 03:35 PM
No.

War and violence are the things needed to be rid of.

In all honesty. I wouldn't allow religion to arise.

See what happens

I'm atheistic in my views, though I wouldn't go so far as to title myself 'atheist', maybe agnostic, as I fear the reckoning of a higher power (not God in the traditional sense, but God in a way most wouldn't understand), and I think the world needs religion. We all see religion as an impediment, but religion has done as much good as it has bad. Without religion we never would've had reason for the Enlightenment or Scientific Revolution to take place. Without religion we would be ages behind in technologies. Without religion we wouldn't have democracy. We wouldn't have half the forms of governments out there. Without religion we wouldn't have ties that bind us regardless of other things (race, ethnicity, social status). Without religion we wouldn't have the United States, without religion we would have gone through many more wars than we've been through. Without religion we would not have come up with the idea that thinking on your own isn't a half-bad idea (Martin Luther/John Calvin). Without religion we wouldn't have the society we have today (Puritan belief that woman might not be equal, but were much more equal than perceived by most others [even the most secular] at the time). Without religion we wouldn't have civil rights, slaves wouldn't have bonded the way they did, and we might still have slaves to date. Our moral codes come straight out of religion. Our sacrilegious views themselves come from religion. Avoiding religion would be impossible. Without religion we would be monkeys. Ooo ooo aaa aaa.

You're welcome?

And yeah, I was a bit too lazy to separate that into paragraphs, but I think the world is the way it is for a reason. We can't just go around changing things, it doesn't work like that. Plus, if you were "God", I mean, what is "God", what can "God" do? If you don't believe in "him" and you step in "his" shoes do you no longer believe in yourself?

Some of you guys think by getting rid of all the bad things in the world everything will be perfect, but it won't. In fact the world will be shit. If there is no bad how can there be good? Ying and Yang without one you can't have the other.

ShatteredWings

i know that, i think it would be FUNNY to get rid of it, and having fun with it. not to 'improve the world'

^^ That's like saying it would be fun to cut off a dog's head. I don't see anything funny about it, in fact, its grossly disturbing.

I'm going to be the non thread reading, not saying anything contributing bastard

I wouldn't change a thing, everything has a reason and most of the things I imagine you'd leave out are all created by men. And very sadly as some people have said I believe that we were created for a special purpose, its not my place to question Gods creation

And even if I were God how could I do it better than God did it? xD ( That made no sense... )

Hmmm, true, it's nice to see an opinion from a relgious point of view. This does make sense, but to scum non-believers like me, i just can't believe that...sorry.
It sounded very nice though :-) lmao

Again...it sounded really good. lol

i'd let humanity destroy itself and teach itself a lesson, then like Civilization 4, start a new game before global warming and nuclear fallout starts appearing.
