well in 3 weeks from tomorrow, i can start getting a job. my parents, joanne and i have already looked at different places where i can apply, a while ago now. so far in our area we have a lot of places where i can apply. there are 2 pizza shops, 2 supermarkets (coles and woolworthes), 4 fast food places (macca's, kfc, subway and hungry jacks) and 3 department stores (k-mart, target and myer).

so today was the day where i have started doing things. i started on a cv (resume). i already have a reference from jo's dad, who obviously thinks a lot of me i should add lol. i also have a reference from one of my teachers at school. i have added some of my school acheivements to demonstrate my capabilities of being committed to things and stuff. so in a couple of weeks i will start taking my cv to these places and hopefully i will get some interviews.

i'm really excited, i can't wait to get a job. i want to start saving money and have enough to go out sometimes. the only thing is that jo wants me to get a job at the kfc she works at. she said she would put a good word in for me. i don't know if its a good idea for us to work together. hopefully i don't get an interview there. anyways, i'm really excited about it all, so i'll update this thread when i have an update. :D

so after school today, in the sydney drizzle, my mum took me around to different places to take my cv (resume) to apply for work. i went to myer, target and k-mart which are department stores. 1 coles supermarket and 3 woolworths supermarkets. 2 mcdonalds and one kfc, jo's kfc at that (but you fill out a form at those places, they only want your cv if you get an interview). i also went to 3 pizza shops and 1 video shop and a subway. now all i need is some interviews, but since i can't legally be employed until november 6, i don't expect to hear anything before then. i'm hoping i will get at least 2 or 3 interviews out of all those places, but yeah, we'll see what happens i guess. i'll post here again when i have more news on the job front.

:P you have nothing at all to be nervous about, you don't need references or even a CV to apply for mcdonalds. When I had my interview I just acted responsible and trustworthy and I got hired straight away.

well tonight has been weird in that i have got 2 calls for an interview in 5 mins. one is for a supermarket called woolworths and the other is at the kfc joanne works at. anyways, they are both on saturday (luckily at different times lol). i'm all excited an nervous though, oh well, it will be a good learning experience anyways. hopefully i'll have some good luck!

so today is the day, november 6, the day i can now legally start to work. so today was the day for my first interview which was at mcdonalds. i've been sick with a rather bad head cold for nearly a week and yesterday it looked like it was really starting to improve, i also had prepared myself for today's interview and was ready to fire. then i woke up this morning, my cold had gotten worse and i was stressing more and more about this interview the closer the time came.

things that were freaking me out were that i had a fever and didn't know how i would be when i got there, whether i would be shivering or sweating because i've been hot and cold all day. i was also stressing because i kept forgetting the questions i wanted to ask them, and as the time came closer the more nervous and scared i became. finally the time came, i was allowed to leave school early at 1.30 to go and i got changed into my dress clothes. i looked ok for my standards, so off to the train station i went. the train was on time, which helped one of my stress points about being late because the train is late.

i made it for the interview 10 minutes early. i sat and waited and then this manager dude came out. we shook hands, he introduced himself and so did i and i thanked him for the interview and stuff. but it was then when i went into full on stress mode. from that point on i froze and what didn't help the matter was that this guy kept calling me steph-en. i corrected him twice and he apologised twice but kept calling me that. for some reason from then on i couldn't focus. i can't even remember the questions that he asked me. i haven't frozen like this since when i built up the courage to tell joanne that i liked her.

i managed to remember a couple of the questions that i wanted to ask. one of them was important because this particular mcdonalds is a 24/7 one and i wanted to know whether i would be required to work overnight at all. this is the only part of the interview i could really remember. anyways, by the time my mind had sorted itself out, it was finished, but boy, did i screw up. my answers were too short, not detailed and i must have sounded like i was druged up on something with my voice and my lightheadness.

anyways, i shook the guys hand and left, he told me that i would find out within a week whether i'm successful or not. i think its safe to say that i've buggered up that opportunity. now i have 2 more chances to impress and hopefully be better prepared and less stressed. hopefully with practice i can get one of the interviews right.

As I've said,
Everytime you think you did bad,
You probably did good.
Or at least in my case.

Can't wait to hear more,
Good luck hun = ]

so this morning was interview number 1 for today. it was at kfc where my gf joanne works which has made this a bit of an interesting situation because i'm not too keen on working with her. anyways, i looked nice, dressed nicely and was suprisingly calm, although i think that was because i knew i didn't really want the job there and the only reason i was there is for joanne and to get more interview practice after the mcdonalds disaster on thursday. this interview went much better. i answered the questions much better and did a good job. i let slip that one of his employees is my girlfriend which should ensure that i don't get that job. but yay for a better interview. now i have another one this afternoon at a supermarket.

ok, so this afternoon i had my last interview that i know of at woolworths, which is a supermarket. although i was very nervous, having had other things on my mind for the last day or so seemed to work in my favour because i didn't seem to worry about the interview so much, i seemed more worried about other stuff.

i arrived early while my parents waited in the car outside. i went in and was told to go to an office out the back. i went in and sat and waited. then this woman called me in. this was my first interview done by a woman, but it went strangely well. i answered the questions well i think and i asked a few too. i will either be working on the checkout or assisting with stock which i think involves storage and loading shelves and stuff.

i will find out within the next 10 days if i have the job or not. i'm far more confident with this one compared to that crappy mcdonalds disaster the other day. hopefully sometime soon i can get on the speaker and say "price check on 6 pack condoms for checkout 5 please" lol. i will report back when i have some news. :)

well about 30mins ago i got a call from mcdonalds. it was complete shambles from start to finish and if you didn't guess from that comment, i didn't get that job. but to be quite frank, if the manager dude can't call me stephen, and keeps on calling me steph-en, after being corrected numerous times, i don't think i could work there anyways. so hopefully the job interview at woolworths was good enough for me to get a job there, because so far, no more interviews are coming my way.

well its funny after a couple of bad days how some good news can make you forget your problems for a while. a few mins ago i got a phone call from woolworths, and i have got a job there. yay!!! :D i will be starting next thursday and friday for induction. i asked what my job will be in the store and they couldn't really tell me much more then they did at the interview, but regardless of what i will be doing its good news. they will be sending me out paperwork for me sign and uniform stuff. i get to wear a very attractive dark green shirt lol. anyways, yay!!! finally some good news for a crappy week!

That's great news! Congratulations. This almost makes me wish that I lived in Australia when I was fourteen. Do you have an idea of how many hours you'll be getting?

Either way, it's really great that you got hired, especially since you weren't technically old enough to have a job until two days ago. That's awesome. :)

well i could have killed my sister and probably should have. it turns out yesterday in the mail the stuff from woolworths came in express post. included are forms i have to sign and about bank details and stuff. the letter that came with it basically said that my primary position will be on the checkout and i will be receiving specific training for that. but it also said "you will also be required at times to perform other functions in the store as staffing requirements allow". so it seems i might get a go at doing other stuff too. i'm really looking forward to it. the other thing is that it is a 24/7 store and that i may be required to work night shifts on weekends. that will be interesting since i'm not much of a nightowl lol. anyways, i'm really excited about it and can't wait til thursday when it all starts!!!

well yesterday i picked up my new uniform for woolworths and found out a few more details about things. firstly, my uniform is a darkish green shirt with "woolworths" and the woolies slogan "the fresh food people" underneath. i also wear black pants and of course i wear black shoes with that which i have already. i will be inducted tomorrow and on friday i will be learning the registers with another person before i get thrown in the deep end with my first proper shift on saturday. on saturday i work for 5 hours in the afternoon and i believe thats on my own so yeah. i'm excited and nervous about it at the same time.

so today i got a phone call from kfc offering me a job there. thank goodness i got the woolworths one first. it looks like i'm in high demand lol. anyways, work is going well. just had my third shift and my first on my own today on the checkouts. i've had a few funny and frustrating moments but on the whole its all going great!!!
