View Full Version : What Colleges Are Your Top Choices?

Oblivion
October 14th, 2008, 07:25 PM
I personally would like to go to
Stanford, because it's close to home, and a good college
University of Washington, because its in WA, and a pretty good college, or
Any of these:
Law Enforcement Development Center (LEDC)
George Washington University, Washington DC
The Armed Forces Institute of Pathology - Forensic Odontology

Because they are all in Washington DC, where I want to work when I graduate, AND where I want to be an intern

Well, I'm in college. It's not exactly the college of my top choice, but I like it and am really glad I'm here.

I'm at Minot State University in North Dakota.
I really would have liked to have gone to Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota.

At the moment I'm dual-enrolled with Linn-Benton Community College and Oregon State University.

But I'm looking more into studying aborad, then permenatly moving to finish my education.

So I really don't know about top choices at the moment.

2 colleges in my state. I haven't been looking around at out-of state colleges because I want to stay in my state, so I'm aiming towards going to two in-state colleges.

I have really high goals that I could easily meet (I'm talking Ivy League schools such as Cornell, Princeton, Columbia and schools like Stanford, etc.), but I'm more likely going to settle with Rutgers (good academics, but nothing amazing) or a school specializing in something I'm interested in (such as Bennington College, or even United States Merchant Marine Corps or US Military Academy)

I know I am going to Three Rivers Community College for my 1st two years, it is really close and a good school to pick up your basics.

Then I'll probably go to whatever college has a good program for whatever career i decide to pursue.

Northeastern University, Drexel University, and SUNY Buffalo are my top 3 choices

Underground_Network

I'm starting to really lean towards Rutgers, though I have a chance to get into The Governor's School of New Jersey (for Creative Writing) next summer which could give me a great shot at getting into a specialized college (one that focuses on writing or "arts" [creative stuff] or something along those lines, such as Bennington College) rather than trying to keep all my grades up and try getting into an Ivy League school or other prestigious university.

My history teacher has also sparked my interest in William & Mary, but I don't really see myself going there. I am contemplating going to a college overseas or even a college in Canada, but I don't know. Next year I'll have to really think about colleges, and when I HAVE to really think about them, I will.

Rutgers seems like a good fit atm, I could probably even get a scholarship there, whereas I'd probably have to pay for all four years if I got into an Ivy League school... But it's too early, and I don't know. I will let VT know what college I get into when I do get into one, but that won't be for quite awhile.

jesus americans are so stuck up on universities. prestige is all the same over here. nobody really cares. only thing I like about socialism.

I'm doing CEGEP right now (ie my colleges), but I'm shooting for Laval (ie your colleges) simply because it's closer to home.

or maybe McGill. quebecois have the lowest tuition in north america. I am a quebecois. why not use it?

I've considered cégep, but I don't know. I can choose cégep heritage, cégep d'Outaouais, or the colleges I've applied for (Algonquin, Centenial, and Seneca)

I was thinking of applying to La Université du Québec en Outaouais, and I just applied to La cité

I'd much rather jump to university straight away, but doing so, as I am a Quebec resident, would need me to move in English Canada or the likes.

and hell naw. CEGEP is pretty chill.

here's a protip : go to a public cégep unless you really, really have to go to a private one. the quality is generally the same, unlike high schools.

As of now I'm considering many schools:

Emory University - GA
Wake Forest - NC
Vanderbilt - TN
Mercer - GA

I'm a little biased right now because living in suburban Detroit, it's effin cold and I just wanna go back south where it's nice. But that's just my list as of now.

Ok, well, I completely changed mine.
If I end up going with forensic anthropology, University of Tennessee is my main and only choice.

Otherwise [Warning: AMBITIOUS! :P]:
1. Oxford [Ok, so it seems ambitious, but I've always wanted to get the Rhodes Scholarship. :P]
2. Stanford
3. University of Pennsylvania
4. Harvard
5. Princeton
6. Yale
7. Brown
8. University of Washington

[Yes I know the top 7 are Ivy League/Equivalent schools. :P]

Here in the UK, a "college" just means a vocational/skills/community/Sixth Form (usually all one institution) college, but using the American usage which pretty much means any college, including Universities and other Higher Education Institutions, I'll say my choices. I don't have any top choices per se, though:

University of Liverpool - Dunno why, it just attracts me.

Warwick University - No chance I'd get in there considering it's apparently one of the best in the UK, haha, but anyway.

Coventry University - It's a good University, and it's in the city I live in. lol.

One of my career choices (wonder-abouts more like) is becoming a Vet, if I persue this (as much as I doubt it) then I'll attend the Veterinary College of the University of London.

Just to be unrealistic, I'm going to have to say Oxbridge (my Dad was an Oxford graduate, so from what he's told me I know how great that sort of education is)
But failing that I'll probably end up at Leicester University, which is fine by me ^_^, studying French & Spanish most likely :)

So many people are obsessed with the Ivy League schools. I really don't understand all the hype about them. Of course, they're all good schools, and you have to be a one of a kind person to be accepted, but honestly, you should go to the college where YOU will be the happiest.
