I'm not sure if anyone here can help me with this, but as with other problems, the first place I thought to turn was VT.

I've applied for a lot of different jobs over the past two or three weeks, and a majority of them were via online applications. One of the first I tried was Wal-Mart. After three days, I decided to call and inqure, and when I got through to Human Resources, I was told the same thing that I was told as an automated message at the end of the application process online:

"You have XX days to hear back from a hiring manager inquiring for an interview, after that point, if you have not heard anything, you are welcome to apply again. Have a good day."
(The wording was different, and I talked to a live person in HR/Personnel, but you get the point.)

The odd thing is, I know plenty of people who have worked for them, and they called several times and finally got through to someone. Would you recommend I do the same? This isn't my first time working, it's just my first time trying for a job through a large company with whom I have to communicate with Human Resources and a hiring manager.

To anyone who has gotten a job via an online application, did it help to call back several times? Did following up help at all?

If anyone here has any information that could help, I'd greatly appreciate it. :)

Edit: I don't know how the fuck this ended up in this thread. I'd almost put it on my life that I made a new thread. Can an admin or mod split this, please?
Thanks.
