Um...Is it normal to masturbate every once and a while? I did it in the shower last night before bed. I try not to do it because...well...it feels wrong. Is it normal for a boy to do this frequently?

I'm 14 by the way

It is perfectly normal if not almost abnormal to NOT do it. But yes, its normal and you shouldn't feel bad doing it.

Masturbating is totally normal, but a lot of us have the guilty feelings when we first start out doing so. My guess as to the roots of the guilty feelings is that perhaps we feel like we are doing something adult and forbidden. However, masturbating is a normal biological function, and as long as you are not spending all of your free time doing it, then you are fine. Once you realize masturbating is normal, then the guilty feelings will gradually subside as you are not doing anything wrong.

It is definitely normal.
Most guys do it, especially during puberty.
Its in no way wrong, physically, or socially, and you should feel fine doing it.

we get alot of these threads its perfectly normal there are polls on this site i cant locate right now but about 80% of the worlds en mastrubate even more then once a day me personally i mastrubate about 3 times a day your perfectly normal and its VERY healthy you release sperm which could build up and cause blue balls which is extremly painfull

Are YOU saying that you don't masturbate?! :P

If you are saying that, it doesn't mean that you're "abnormal" in the sense that something is WRONG with you. Nothing is wrong with NOT masturbating just like nothing is wrong WITH masturbation. Its just VERY uncommon to be a guy and not masturbate; around 95% of guys do it at least once before the age of 18. (and as the saying goes, the other 5% are lying! :D).

most of the guys i was at school with did it every day so to them your abnormal .. sex and reproduction is ingrained for survival of the species more sex = more babys .. it goes back to the days when we lived in caves and had nothing better to do than hunt and have sex .

I'm not lying I really don't masturbate... I'm afraid too. My first post here was asking a question about how can I prevent wet dreams without masturbating since i don't do it... The reason I don't do it/ never did do it is because I'm afraid too. I can't explain why im afraid i just am. :(:(

Masturbating definitely falls into the optional category, and you definitely don't need to do it especially since wet dreams seem to take care of your excess semen anyway. My only guess as to why you are afraid about masturbating is it probably seems like a very adult and forbidden thing to do, and perhaps you are most comfortable being a kid? If you don't masturbate, then you are not a freak as you clearly have strong control over your sex drive and don't have the urge to masturbate like many guys.

You need to figure out WHY you're so afraid. You have NO reason to be afraid, masturbation is healthy, GOOD FOR YOU (i.e. helping with prostate cancer) and can help you become more comfortable with your sexuality BEFORE you decide to have a partner (so your first time having sex won't SUCK).
