It is another form of helping stop pregnancy and STD transmission. What it is is just a the same kind of rubber only worn on the interior of the vagina rather than wrapping the penis. It is just as useful if not more. Studies have shown it can be MORE effective than a mal condom. But I believe they are slightly more expensive.

Hope I explained your question.

I believe they are called diaphragms, they are of a thicker more durable rubber than a condom though, because they are to be reused. Other than that I agree with Vindication.:)

Female condoms serve the same purpose as the more familiar male ones: they prevent sperm from entering your vagina. Basically, they have the same basic structure as a male condom (a rubber tube) except they have two flexible rings. There is a smaller ring at the end and a bigger ring around the opening; the smaller one is squished up and inserted into the vagina, and pushed in with your finger through the bigger ring. From there they work just like male condoms would.

However, I do not think female condoms are very common... I do not believe I have ever noticed any for sale at Shoppers, but I do know that they are quite a bit more expensive. Most people prefer male condoms just because they are more convenient and easier to use. They also say that male condoms are more effective at preventing pregnancy and venereal diseases as well, though I am not too sure of that.

Female condoms are quite different than diaphragms. A female condom lines your entire vagina and protects against STDs as well as pregnancy. A diaphragm is only a cover for the cervix, so it's much smaller and it doesn't protect against most STDs. It does protect against pregnancy, but requires spermicide to work properly.

Lol, I just know a lot about diaphragms because my mom said she used one in between kids (she's been on the pill ever since my parents decided my little sister would be the last one).
