when i was at school today i asked my friend what the topic was for an upcoming essay. When i said this i knew there was a pretty good chance that he would tell me everything that i needed to know about the essay and give away answers to it.
He did and i could have asked him to stop telling me the answers when he was explaining it but i didn't and now i don't what to do. Should i just write the essay using the information he gave me or should i purposely write the wrong thing. Or should i just not do it at all?

If you can, I would do the essay with what you know. Honestly, just do your best. There isn't much else you can do except prevent this problem in the future. If you don't like them jsut giving you all the answers, just say that you want to try to do it yourself. And if they are a good friend, then they will understand and let you be. Also, I highly suggest always doing your own work becauseif not, you're just hurting yourself by not learning as you should.

Good luck

Tip: keep a planner

If you are a guy I know how this is difficult (because it is for myself); however, it will allow you to stay organized and know what something is over and when it is due, that way you do not have to risk your grade by what a teacher may consider cheating.

SO if you fear your concious then just try keeping a planner, or saving it to your calender in your cell phone if you have one! I do it and it makes things so much easier

This is more like an ethics question than anything else. The short answer is you should do your best on the essay, even if that means incorporating his answers. It would be hard to exclude that bit of knowledge, and purposely leave it out.

In the future, you might be very specific with your request for info, and if you're getting more, then you might be more assertive in your request for them to stop. That way, you get only what you need to create your own essay.
