Omg! the guy who sits next to me in biology class is gay! I'm afraid of him now! Should I report him to the principal? will he get expelled? I go to a prep school with under 200 students

Why would you report him to the principle it's not like he's going to try and rape you. Being gay only means you like guys it doesn't change who you are at all. Maybe you should learn some acceptance and get over the fact that he's gay.

report him for what? if he didn't touch, offend, or abuse you in any way, then there's nothing to report. plus if he didn't do any of that stuff then there's nothing to be afraid of. being gay isn't a bad thing, the bad thing is that you're judging him, and that may do more harm to him than he may do to you. but if he asks you out or tells you you're cute, then you have a right to be uncomfortable, but not scared.

are you shitting me??

I'm sorry, but:

1. there is no way to 'prove' that someone is gay
2. nothing would happen, except your name being tarnished, because if someone did that, the school would be in a shit load of trouble

Is this quetstion for real? why are you 'afraid' of a gay guy? hmmmmmmmm? That is .. wow [keeping mouth shut]

Why would you report him, if he's gay? Are you a homophobe or something? He's done nothing wrong, and I go to a prep school and they don't expell gays.

That is ridiculous. Appalling. Do you somehow think being gay is infectious?! If you report him to the principal, you are violating his rights.

Why the hell are you afraid of him? I am gay and almost everyone in class knows that. And guess what? From what I know they are all accepting. They still talk to me like a normal person.

And reporting him to the principal is the stupidest thing I ever heard. That would definitely be a wrong thing to do and who knows what could happen. Stop being so ignorant and try to become more accepting. And him getting expelled would be wrong, too.

completely agree.

What the heck is wrong with you? You're acting like he has Ebola virus because he's gay!
Why the hell are you afraid of him?? He might want to style your hair? Seriously, how much more rude, inconsiderate, and ignorant can you get?

"Will he get expelled?" ? That's descrimination.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!???!?!?!?!?!?!? you have got to be kidding me. you want to report him to the principal?? what kind of shit is that??!!!? its not like the guy sexually harrassed you or anything. he's gay!! big deal. theres absolutely nothing wrong with being gay. nothing at all. if anyone is in the wrong here, its you. you have absolutely no right to report him to anybody.

you really need to take some time to sit back and think. how the hell are you going to make it in this world if you cant show tolerance and acceptance of people. if you cant do that, you are going to be one miserable and lonely person. you need to learn to accept things about people. you may not agree with whatever it is, but you have to learn to accept it.

Well hold on, you tell us that your afraid and should you tell the principal? We're reacting badly because it sounds as if you are homophobic and think he is some sort of primitive creature.

We don't need to mad at him he's probably just ignorant of homosexuals. I mean it's instinct to get paranoid about something your not use to and all he did was voice it to us. It's a good thing he didn't act out on it though.

I agree
No one needs to jump at him
Honestly, I was ignorant about homosexuality before I came here.
Of course I wasn't discriminatory, but still I knew little about how we are the exact same except for a slight difference in taste!
I blame the [mostly] world wide discrimination against homosexual people.
People grow up thinking its a disease instead of a minor difference in likes and dislikes.

Well there is nothing wrong with being gay. I have many friends that are gay. They are really cool and they treat me better than my real friends.

I hope you got the advice you were looking for here.

Yeah I have more straight friends then gay friends. But I don't get mad at the people who don't accept me because I really cannot get mad at them if I were in their shoes. How would I feel if I didn't understand something or someone. Just misunderstanding of homosexuals that's all.

Thanks, I'm not afraid of gays. I found out what gay really means, I thought it meant you were a male prostitute ( my friend told me that in 6th grade), but since I know now that it means that you just like other guys I don't freak out everytime I hear someone talking about a gay guy

...Ok. Well, would you have actually thought that a person your age was a male prostitute?

The biggest contributor to prejudice is misinformation + a lack of direct experience.

I think what you might want to do is to take some time and actually get to know this person a little, maybe not by inviting him over to your house, but just by talking with him, maybe participating in some class assignment with him. I think stuff like that will give you the opportunity to slowly get to know him, and hopefully see that he's really not that different form you.

Firstly, I have a few things to say to you.

1. You can't prove that he's gay at all. Unless you ask him, and only if you think you should, then don't label him under the "gay".

2. You are obviously homophobic. Being afraid of someone who prefers men over the opposite sex? That's nothing to be afraid of. He's a human being just like you.

3. Reporting him for being gay is just going to get the school in a load of shit along with you. So, if you're going to report him, don't expect that you'll be the only one in trouble.

I agree with # 1, kinda, but not the other two. Didn't you see the last few posts, Duke?

Umm yeah Duke, he just didn't know what gay meant, he cleared that up in a post above. Like Johnny I don't really agree with 2 or 3, reporting that someone is gay at a school wouldn't do much other than being talked to that "its all just a phase" and whatnot.
