One your building, or one that's prebuilt?

You didn't mention a case, psu, or anything like that, but I'll factor that in. Also, if you factor a CD/DVD Burner in, it'll be more.

I'll just guess 400-490$, which may be leaving some of those out. Lower end would be leaving those out.

Didn't really give much to go on.

You can get a computer with a LOT better specs than the one he's talking about for that price.

I left the case and such out on purpose. It actually totaled up to $456, with $75 in rebates bringing it to ~$380. And yes, this is custom. Once again, you prove your knowledge Blahages.

I just went to Newegg and added the the lower to average end of the price for each component up, then put in some cushion on both sides. :P

It also means you lose awesome points. For those who don't know, only awesome points distributed by myself are valid, and can be redeemed for cash. About 1500 awesome points gets you a dollar. You just lost 4000 awesome points.

How many do I have?

2? 3? 42?

547,843?

-37?

Do I lose points for asking? :P

That still comes to 99 cents.

Or does it only work in wholes? Such as you MUST have points in lumps of 1,500 in order to redeem?

Correct. Yay for you! You're now at 1498.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 000000000000001

Why do I have the feeling that we're talking about limits here, and that number will never make it to 1500? It'll get increasingly closer and closer, possibly to the point that it's several quadrillionths off 1500, but will never actually reach that?

If it gets to that point, I'm afraid I'll just have to round up. Possibly even if the number starts going down.

Ew, brining Calc. into this? 1498.

Yeah, so my parts showed up. The only problem is that, when I upgraded my CPU, it didn't include a fan. So I can't set up my new computer yet -.-

Oh, Sush. :P And just because it's a term used in Calc doesn't mean that the way I used it really requires any need for Calc knowledge. :P

OEM Processors don't come with heatsinks or fans. :P

lol, do you lose awesome points for that?

Yes, he does. He loses "2.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 000000000001" points, so assuming he started at 1,500, which I'll assume he started himself AT LEAST there, he is now at 1497.999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 999999999999999.

Yay, I'm in the lead. (And yes, I've taken it upon myself to be in charge of your points. You can't take any points away from me for doing this, since you're already in control of my points. Doing so would be entirely ridiculous and prove the nonsensicalness behind that). :P

So I got everything set up, and now I'm having a problem.

My motherboard doesn't have a video chipset, so I guess that's why there's no port for the monitor. I've plugged my monitor into the video card, but for some reason, nothing shows up on screen. The card's fan spins and all, everything looks and sounds fine, but nothing shows up. Any ideas?

Blahages

What motherboard did you get?

How are you plugging the monitor into the video card if there is no video card? Or, are you using one you already had?

If it's one you had, what type of video card is it?

Also, are you sure you have everything plugged into the motherboard and set up correctly?

I have the Biostar A770 A2+ and a geForce 9600 GSO.

The motherboard doesn't have a video output, so I have my monitor plugged into the video card through an adapter (damn my lo-def screen!). Everything looks okay, so I contacted EVGA and they said it may be the motherboard, so contact Biostar. Which I did, and they said to leave a message ><;;

EVGA said that the motherboard may not be posting to the card...do you know how to troubleshoot that?

Unplug any Hard drives, cdrom drives, floppy drives, modems, and any other non-essential devices.

Basically, Leave the motherboard, the RAM, the Video card, the Power supply, the Processor, CPU Heatsink/Fan, and the power connector connected. Unhook everything else (Means entirely, as in not connected by any cables or anything)

Try it. See if it works.

If you have another video card (Such as a PCI or PCI Express one, try it without the 9600GSO in it and see if it boots.

I remember reading somewhere about people having issues with that particular card being DOA. I have the same card, but it's branded with "8800GS," although I know mine works just fine.

The only real way you're going to know for sure is to put another video card into the computer. If it boots, it's the video card. If it doesn't, it's possibly the motherboard.

Oh, Did you hook up the power connector to the video card? There's a connector that usually says PCIx or whatever on the power supply that goes to the video card. Make sure you have that hooked up, as well as the 4 pin power connector to the motherboard (I THINK the video card one is 6 pins and the motherboard one is 4).

It may be helpful to take pictures of how you have everything connected, so if it's a problem with forgetting to plug something in, or plugging it in wrong, someone may see it.

Yeah, there was a cable tucked behind my power supply I didn't connect XD

Now, I have just one more problem: the power indicator light doesn't stay on, but the computer seems fine...CPU is only about 30C, and everything's on, except the light...very strange...

Was it the PCIx connector or the Motherboard one that wasn't hooked up?

As for the "Power Indicator Light." By that, are you meaning the Power LED That is part of the Case that is on indicating that the computer is turned on?

When IS it on?

Are you sure you have it plugged into the Power LED pins, and not, say, the HDD LED pins, or something entirely different?

Looking at the Manual for the motherboard that I found online, it looks like the Power LED Wires should be plugged in to the three pins immediately after the Power Button pins, same side, with the writing that is probably on the plastic casing that goes over the pins facing out towards the direction of the RAM.

Could also be an issue with the indicator on the motherboard. My motherboard has a known issue with the HDD Activity Indicator. You plug anything into it and it doesn't show the activity, although there obviously is activity. I found by looking around that there was a bug in the model I have that does that. I'm sure a Bios update will or has fixed it already.

It turns on right when the computer boots up, for about a second, then shuts off.

also, turns out it was the CPU connector XD
