And I only have one class on Mondays :D
Yay!
I'm not even nervous.
Ah, but to the point...
For those of you have are/have been in college,
Which is better for taking notes in:
Laptop or notebook and pencil?

Laptop because you can also record the lectures and play them back later then you can move them to paper.

I prefer writing. Writing stuff down helps me retain the material better than typing, but everyone is different.
If you have a lot of writing to do or your hand tires easily it might be best to type.

Yeah thats another reason I don't like typing. If I got bored enough I'd be tempted to just surf around.

Paper and pencil. It's easier to retain what you learn when you write it down. And just imagine if your computer ever broke down, and even if you saved it onto a flash drive, those are prone to become corrupted... However if you want to go all out, type it, hope it doesn't get lost, and then write them down when you get home or something.

Two words:
Google Docs
Using Google documents you can access them from any computer, and you'll never lose them. Simple!
Now, there are sides to support both. If you can refrain from surfing around and not paying attention, and are a good typer, it would be good to use a laptop because you can generally type faster than you can write, and that means you can take more notes more quickly, and keep up with the lecture or whatever.
But, paper, you always have, though it can easily be misplaced or ruined somehow. But writing it down might help it stick more too.

Gratz and good luck, although yopu won't need it, i'm sure.
I'm a paper and pen guy, I find it quicker and easier, it's more portable, and frankly I like writing (I have lots of very cool pens). But to each his own, I suppose. Try bringing both and see which works for you.

Me too I love pens :P
But on top of that I love computers
So frankly I don't know what I'll do... A laptop with a notepad set next to the touch pad? :P
Anyways, at first I said laptop because it's usually quicker, and you are much less likely to misplace your laptop, or have it damaged.
But then again paper is convenient, and easy to take out right away instead of having your computer start up/hibernate at the start and end of each class

Well, not if you have a laptop that boots in 20 seconds. :P

maybe you could give both a try. then see how both ways go and compare. then you will know what works best for you and then its fairly easy to re-write/re-type, as the case may be, the notes you already have. anyways, good luck and all the best for your first day steph, i'm sure you'll love it! :)
