the medication in those pads for fighting acne create a burning sensation. if you shave and you take a thin layer of dead skin off, and the nerves are more sensitive here, it would probably burn more. but this was a very confusing post. i had to read it 6 times and im still not sure.

I find that some moisturuser works well.

As far as preventing razor burn goes, I would say to use a good, sharp razor, some shaving cream, and take your time... That should be all you need to prevent it.

As for avoiding rasor burn make sure that your face is properly moisterized with warm water so that your pores open up so that the rasor is not yanking hair follicles out of the root. Make sure that you go slow but steadily, and perhaps using shaving gel as opposed to cream may help you out. The following video might be off assistance to you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALOKiXe1mSQ&feature=related

Regarding white heads, my view is that cleaning your face very well with a facial cleaner is a good way to reduce contaminents building up. Also, a good after shave, such as something made by Nivea, might reduce problems with skin irritation from rasor burn as well as from contaminents.

People with very sensitive skin (I'm assuming we're talking about face skin, btw) are advised to use an electric razor. They minimize (if not completely eliminate) razor burn b/c they remove the hairs with far less friction. Go invest in one, they're not at all expensive, just make sure to follow the directions.
