ways to prevent hearing loss?

Being a teenager, i go to school dances, but sometimes, I end up with mild temporary hearing loss in one or both ears. I don't stand up next to the speakers, but is there anything more that I can do? Ear plugs are kind of out of the question, as they're a bit large and noticeable.

Well if you get temporary hearing loss, that's really not good.
So either don't go, stand farther from the speakers, or wear small earplugs- ones that fit in your ears are actually quite small.

Earplugs are the only thing you can wear which will protect your ears and wouldn't be completely obvious.

You could go to a doctor and get fitted with special ear plugs that will fit you ear and not be so noticeable.
