A Langhorne woman allegedly threw her 10-day-old daughter to the ground repeatedly Thursday night as she ran through the borough naked, according to court records.

The baby was in serious condition with head trauma at St. Christopher’s Hospital, according to a spokesperson. The mother, Lauren Shockey, 27, was taken to the intensive care unit of St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown Thursday night, but hospital officials said she was not there Friday.

According to court records: Police went to the 200 block of Orchard Lane about 7:13 p.m. and found Shockey on the ground yelling and her baby in a nearby residence.

A neighbor saw Shockey running around naked and the baby lying on the grass. The neighbor picked up the baby but Shockey snatched her back and threw her to the ground. The neighbor rushed to the baby, but Shockey yanked the baby away and threw her 19 feet where she landed on an asphalt driveway.

When police went into Shockey’s apartment, they found it ransacked with blood and broken glass. No charges had been filed Friday night.

So since when does throwing a 10 day old baby to the ground repeatedly not call for charges?

You can get a fine for running around naked I bet too.

Wait, with the baby's blood the apartment had? Or blood in general?

Not sure, but that should be cause for investigation....

Last time i checked, it does.
maybe the local cops were just fed up with all the other problems in the area and felt this was 'minor'? idk

Just to let you all know.....the news paper didn't tell all of what happened. This woman was a very nice person and very excited to be having this baby. What she suffered from is post partum depression along with a brain chemical problem. It could of been triggered during labor. This is a serious thing she went through. I am sure when they are able to tell her what she did she will be in even more pain. She was not her self at all when the cops went there. She doesn't even remember doing this. What they both need is prayers. They are trying to heal the baby and help the mother to heal too. This is a freak thing that happened.

link? I'm curious now, i've never known depression to make someone so overly-violent towards an infant, but if you have sources, then...

Last I checked, even a person with postpartum-depression can be charged for hurting a baby like that. It would just make it harder for them to be convicted.

That's just horrible though. It's a miracle the baby is still alive. Hopefully she doesn't suffer from any brain damage, but I'm sure she will.
