hi i am new, now to my question, my mum doesnt want me to have a girlfriend until i am at least 16 when she had here first boyfriend at 12 and my brother and sister had partners at 16 so she can say that in response

What can i do to let me have a girlfriend?

If she really doesn't want you to have a girlfriend until you are 16, the best thing is to respect her wishes. Otherwise you would have to lie about it, and lie about where you went [if you went on dates with her].

Try talking to her, but obviously she knows your position on the subject, so she may not budge much.

sorry i just turned 13 and i think it is because she thinks i will have a bad self image and be with one girl for ages and then break up because we would fine out that we werent good for eachother and thats what happened to my mum she went out with her first boyfriend for 5 years i think and it is also because she wants me to work on my schooling

It would be helpful to know how old you are now to help put things in perspective. My guess is you have to be somewhere between 13-16, and if your Mum had her first partner at 12, then I am surprised she is being so hard on you. Perhaps she had a really bad experience when she was your age and felt that if she had been older and more mature she would have acted in a different manner.

To answer your question directly, the best way you can get a girlfriend is to be responsible plain and simple. Basically, as long as you get good grades, stay out of trouble, do your chores, and be an otherwise model child, then your Mum would be hard pressed to claim that you cannot handle a girlfriend. Also, you are going to need to have a frank talk with your Mum and/or Dad about sexuality, and probably you are going to have to come to some understanding about it. What I mean is that your Mum may demand that you do not engage in any sexual activity until you are old enough to be responsible for your actions. You have to prove to your Mum that both you and your partner can keep your hormones in check and will act responsibly if you two are in a relationship. I would definitely introduce your Mum to your potential partner and also have your partner's parents talk with your Mum so that everyone is at ease with your relationship. Finally, you have to prove that you can keep up your grades and other responsibilities as well as be able to handle a break up if the worst case scenerio happens with your partner.

Well you don't need to tell your parents about the relationship. If you are mature enough to handle a relationship then I think you should go ahead and have a girl friend good luck.

I think you should respect her decision, IF NOT then ask your crush on a date. Then have your parents drop you off there (movies is the best) then meet your girl inside and tell your parents you are going with freinds:yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:

thanks gues i think i will wait it out till when im about 14 then see what she is like then and in the meantime i will just go to dances and hook up or more to any random chick
