MSN messenger problems again

Well, my messenger craped out on me again a few months ago. I'm trying to install the new version but I can't because the old version is still on here.

So, I got to uninstall it and then all of a sudden it says that this is forbidden and to contact the system administrator. Why is this? Is there some way I can delete this program without having to go through a long process?

I think you have to be a system admin to un-install programs.
