Christianity and circumcision are not really related. It happens that a few Christian nations (the Philippines, the U.S., South Korea, I think) have varying degrees of tradition relating to circumcision -- but it's not religious. There are a few orthodox Christian traditions that adopted the practice from Islam, but I still think that's more cultural than religious. Some Christian countries (the U.S., the U.K. and parts of the Commonwealth) adopted it to prevent masturbation (lol). I guess that's sort of religious, but still not really.

All in all, Christians are mostly not circumcised. They're probably more likely to be cut than Hindus or Buddhists, but much less likely than Jews or Muslims. That has everything to do with local cultural practices, though, and nothing to do with Christianity.

Not quite. The tradition of circumcision started with Jews and Moses. Not Islam. All Jews are circumcised, and a very large majority of Islams are. Though Jews started it.

I know, I wasn't saying otherwise. It did start with the Jews, but I was saying that I'd thought the Coptic Christians practiced it because of Islamic influence. Looks like I was wrong, anyway--it seems to be because of local African practices, not Islam. Many Coptic sects also apparently practice female circumcision. So, my guess is that it's not Islam, but regional African cultural traditions.

Kind of hard to tell in that part of the world, since a lot of practices originate from a mish-mash of cultures and religions.

I WAS Christian (when I was 6-12) but now I'm a pretty militant Atheist (as some people here will know :D). But yeah I was circumsized as a baby. Sometimes I wonder what it would feel like being uncut but I don't feel like it was some big tragedy or crime that they cut it without my baby-consent. Since I've never really had a foreskin I don't really know what I'm missing so its all good.
