Do you wear tampons or sanitary towels? If not then these are designed to catch all the blood etc. As far as I'm aware there's no way to reduce the amount of blood though, it's something you will just have to get used to.

Just wear tampons, and when you change them don't (or try not to) look?
There is not much you can do.

Sorry, but there isn't a way to reduce or stop the blood flow. You'll get used to it after you've had it a while
And btw Dezi, birth control pills don't stop your periods.

Hmm... That's what I thought?

I s'pose there are different types of birth control, so yeah... I know that some release hormones to fool your body into thinking you're pregnant, and so you wouldn't get your period (I guess?)

I think you'll find that the oral contraceptive pill can affect the regularity and heaviness of the periods rather than stopping them completely.

I don't know too much about birth control, but the more I think about it, there is/are methods that would actually stop them completely. (Aren't there?)
The contraceptive injection is one (my mum has it done) and possibly the hormonal coil?
{EDIT} Maybe Dezi was also referring to one of them (I just realised that originally, she mentioned pills).

This pill sounds good,is it like a sort of medication?
And does it lessen the blood?

The pill is a form of birth control, go to your GP or a family planning clinic, and they'll ort it out for you. Likewise, they'll offer you some other methods (probably the ones that have been mentioned) which could work better for you. Just explain your situation and how it's more of a way to control the bleeding, rather then being used as a contraceptive :)

... start the white pill IMMEDIATELY. You're only meant to skip a period EVERY NOW AND AGAIN. What you're doing now is seriously screwing with your bodies' chemistry, any doctor would tell you the same. I know it's not pleasant, but it's necessary.

Go to your GP (doctors) and say to him, he should be able to give you a pill that stops the period

wearing tampons helps stop the blood from going in your pants and their are menstrual tablets that really help stop the cramps

There are ways of completely stopping periods, but there are so many good reasons to have them that it's usually not recommended by either doctors or the people who make the products. A long stretch of missed periods are often a signal and sometimes the only signal that something is going wrong in your body - usually with your hormones or reproductive system (both very important!), but it can be other things too. So your period is kind of like a health check-up, and stopping your period entirely means you could potentially miss that important clue.
I heard somewhere that the pill when used normally reduces menstrual flow by about 1/3 on average. However, your first few periods are usually the lightest anyway so there's probably no need to go on the pill just for that yet if you've just started to have them. It mostly seems like you just need to get used to the whole thing - it took me awhile too. What really helped was that I found out I'm definately a tampon person and not a pad person like my mother and sister, though if you decide to try them you should get a small size at first (I know a lot of people who got the regular size first, but they were so young at the time that regular was too big and that's an unpleasant experience). It also really helps when your body settles into a regular, predictable rhythm so it's not a surprise and you're prepared.

Birth control pills can also cause cancer on through the years
