Well, I was thinking about this yesterday and seeing that we can embed youtube videos, why can't we embed videos from other video sites like Metacafe?

We could make the code [metac][/medac] or something like that with the link in between it.

Youtube is the safest place to get videos from. It doesnt allow porn, but Metacafe on the other hand does allow revealing videos, and google video has porn. So I think that the best thing to do is to not allow those because it could easily be abused and the wrong thing could be uploaded.

For now, we're going to stick with YouTube only.

I never used that site and I am not sure what kind of content they allow but I know for a fact YouTube removes inappropriate content so I trust them more than the site you're talking about.

There's lots of video sites out there and we can't possibly create new BB codes for each one. As far as I know YouTube is the most popular and well known video site that has a ToS we can approve of, so it makes sense to use them.

I've been on Metacafe and most of the videos are safe but they do have an area for 18+only where they do allow some adult stuff.

Can't you just upload a video from whatever site onto youtube?
Save to your computer and then upload?

Also, wouldn't most Metacafe videos be on Youtube?

Not really because metacafe is a site that pays you for videos that you have created, so it'll have a different crowd and publishers. Metacafe has a lot of How-to Videos.
