I'm proud to announce that I've finally finished a game! This is my first serious project, entered in a contest to with $30 (not too great, but how much has your hobby made you?) among other smaller cash prizes.
First, here is the link: http://www.yoyogames.com/games/show/46493
It's a scrolling shooter game where you control a ship and have to destroy the enemies. There is a better description and a controls listing at the link, so I'll leave it at that. Enjoy!

A few things:
Firstly, the screen getting red annoys me. A bunch. I can never tell exactly when I'm going to overheat, and it makes it hard.
Second, I have a hard telling what color another ship is unless two of different kinds are on the screen, so the colors need more contrast.
Next, a timer would be nice.
And whenever the track changes, the game freezes for a second. I know with GM it's kind of hard to resolve that, but alternatively you could have a single, 5 minute song that works with the game so there's no need for change. At least you used .midi ;)
And lastly, I'm sorry, but, the game was aptly named. It's a dull war... There are two kinds of ships, you have one single weapon... It's not hard to code powerups and other weapons, or maybe some enemies with AI.

The contest was to make a game that was simple, a game that casual users could play when they have a spare minute or two.
About the songs freezing, they're *supposed* to preload so that doesn't happen, but unless I redo the music system (which was a pain in the arse), it's not fixable.
How did you have a hard time? One's black, the other white. Once you start killing one type, however, yeah, it's supposed to be harder to tell.
I've been thinking of things to add for a new version though, so stay tuned.
