Okay, I have bad acne, just how it is, I've learn to deal with it.
-I'm 16, and shave almost every other day or so now.
--I've noticed that if I shave my face competly my acne seems to clear up.
---And I noticed if I leave my beard to grow, or I "sculpt" out a beard if you wanna say that, and only leave some hair, my face still has terrible acne.
----So, is there a connection between my bad acne and facial hair? or am I just getting really bad outbreaks for just the reason of acne?

Thanks
Kevin

I doubt that there would be a connection in between facial hair and acne, I think what is happening is that when you shave, you are removing any dead skins cells and any oil which has accumulated on your face, therefore reducing the chance of spots forming. If this is the case, you could try giving your face a really good clean each time you shower with a facial wash / scrub (Nivia do men's versions of them I think).

If this doesn't work and you still want to get rid of your acne without having to shave all the time, pop along to your doctor and they can prescribe you some pills for the acne. I used to have very bad acne, and after taking the pills I was given (lymecycline, 408mg capsules) my acne went away completely within 2 weeks.

Hope this helps :)

Actually there is a connection between facial hair and acne. you see, what is hair? Just dead skin cell that grow and grow and grow. It is very oily so when that oil gets in your pores it causes then to create blackheads.

Hair is actually made up from keratin and other protein cells I think. And the pores which hair grows from aren't normally the ones responsible for spots.

Just thought I'd point that out : )

Sometimes if I dont shave for 3 or 4 days my face breaks out too and if I shave every other day its not as bad. I think the hair follicles get clogged with oil if you dont shave but thats not scientific, just my opinion.
