to find the right type of diet for you, i would suggest going to a doctor or a diet specialist person (don't know their official title). anyways, they will be able to help you the most and give you a plan to work out and eat healthy.

Good for you for wanting to lose the weight! It's the right move, just stick with it and don't get discouraged.
If you're 350+lbs., this will take some time. B/C of your weight and the amount you need to lose, though, I'd strongly suggest you get some professional help (nutritionists, trainers) to help esatablish a long term routine for you and help you stay on target, as well as assess your progress and make any required changes along the way.

Diets do not work. Eating healthy though and exercising regularly works great.

In light of your situation there is absolutely no question that you need to seek professional help as your weight is no doubt very dangerous from a health perspective. Meeting with your doctor is a good first step, and he/she is going to have to set you up with a dietician who will have to help you plan a diet to which you will have to strictly follow. There is no doubt you are going to have some hard times over the course of the year trying to break out of years of unhealthy eating and diet choices, but you can overcome your issue through hard work. Also, if you are using food as a way to deal with emotional trauma that you had suffered, then definitely set yourself up with a counselor who can help you deal with that side of your problem. Your situation is no doubt pretty hard, and it is going to take a whole lot more than simple diet and exercise to help you get to an acceptable weight.
