yes. while i was with my ex girlfriend still, i started getting fellings for another girl who is now my girlfriend as it turns out. it was hard to try and shut those feelings out. i did succeed but basically within 2 weeks of breaking up with that ex girlfriend, i had hooked up with the girl i had feelings for. so if you can stay mentally strong its possible to ignore those feelings if thats what you want to do.
