My system has recently obtained the virus ieantivirus, a virus that does funny stuff with your browser, and keeps popping up messages whenever you explore your computer telling you that your system has viruses and you better buy some load of crap. The problem is that I have no antivirus tools and no money to spend on them. I tried deleting all the associated files as well as the registry files, but couldn't locate the .dll files associated with it, and am not sure where to look no my system. I thought I had destroyed all the files, but it's still lurking somewhere.
Does anyone have experinces with viruses or ieantivirus in particular?

What internet provider do you have?
I know Comcast gives you free McAfee security, and maybe others will do the same?
Or you can look online for free antivirus software, but make sure you look at reviews etc. to make sure its legitimate.

Some viruses like to embed themselves into certain files. So even though you deleted the files from the virus, Oh, there it is. It's INSIDE the iexplore.exe. I'm not sure how ieantivirus works, but I'm guessing this is how it's done it.
Now unless you know how to scan lines of code yourself :P , then I suggest going to http://free.avg.com and downloading the free version of AVG. It works REALLY well. Just install it, tell it to do a FULL system scan. (I'm sure it will find a CRAPLOAD more than just the ieantivirus virus.) After the scan, it will simply move the files to a part of your system where they can do any harm, it's called the virus vault. Just delete any files you think you need to from the virus vault.

Thanks for the help, I've heard about AVG but never been able to find any virus removal programs that were free.

Well, thankfully, AVG did the trick, though it took 5 hours to scan. Thanks guys.

Ok first of all don't use Norton (because is not that good antivirus now and it slow ur computer) or Panda.
Use Kaspersky
u can download a free 3 0days trial:
http://www.kaspersky.com/anti-virus_trial
If u are going to Buy an AV buy Kaspersky

I, personally, use AVG Free and it is one of the best programs out that are free. I suggest unhooking your Internet (after downloading AVG) and then scan, as to avoid the virus from bringing in more of itself.
