Personal preference, really. I happen to have liked the taste of beer and wine since I first tried them. I initially hated the taste of spirits, but over time my preferences regarding that have changed and now like many of them.

It's all about your likes and dislikes.
I'm not a beer or wine person,
But there are other drinks I love the taste of.

I never loved the taste of liquor when i started drinking it. i still HATE vodka even though i drink it occasionally. You get used to the taste of rum and whiskey etc. but personally i wouldn't say i like it. i wouldn't drink it just for the taste.
beer i hated for a little, but love it now. you acquire the taste.

I think it smells nasty and tastes nasty. I won't be sticking around to aquire it either. I think it would be better if they had like punches that taste like punches and all that stuff with like alcohol thats tasteless in it. I have never been to a bar so I dont know what alot of exotic drinks taste like like martinis and stuff but if I were a maker of these then I would make it taste nromal. But thats just mei

my dad made me drink alcohol when i was only 8, and i tried it once, but i never had it again, because it tastes awful, and it's against my morals. i'm mad that my dad was dumb enough to offer me something like that when i was too young to be smart enough to say no.

Do you always have this superiority complex?
Or is that arrogance just online?
Its like every post
jebus
First of all not everyone who has a drink is an alcoholic
and there are many diffrent kinds of wine
I've had 12$ wine and I've had wine that was just over a thousand dollars a bottle
guess which tasted better?
For the most part I only like ice wine
and personally I don't like beer
I don't like the after taste
I've tried many many many different brands the only one I can kind of stomach is Corona
I like hard liquor and mixes
More than anything else
but thats me

How can you say you don't understand how people can when you've never had a proper experience with consuming alcohol yourself?
Cooking/cheap wine is quite nasty -- I'm not surprised you didn't like it.

The Reason People Drink Is Not For The Taste Itself But How It Makes Your Feel
Ehhhhhh.... Not in my opinion. Sometimes when my body feels old and rickedy. I drink whiskey I find it warming. But then again I hardly drink.

The Reason People Drink Is Not For The Taste Itself But How It Makes Your Feel
No that isn't true -- having a drink you like (such as a mixer of a yummy fruit cocktail) when you're out with friends is quite enjoyable. You don't HAVE to get drunk and tipsy, you can only have 1-2, still enjoy the taste and NOT get to that state.
It really bugs me that we're getting 12-15 year old's on here saying that hate alcohol and can't understand why people drink -- you're young, inexperienced and probably haven't tried much alcohol beyond cooking wine and a sip of your dad's beer. There's a lot nicer stuff than that out there, guys. Also, as Cody said, NOT EVERYONE WHO DRINKS IS AN ALCOHOLIC. You are actually offending quite a few of us older members when you insinuate that. Alcohol is a good social mixer/lubricant when you are out with friends. It IS possible to enjoy alcohol without just wanting to get drunk. Most of the mixer's and cocktails taste very sweet, refreshing and fruity -- and when you're out at night with friends, you've been talking, dancing and laughing, you do have one, and it is as much for the taste as is the alcohol content.
Wise up before you make these statements please, people.

Even so, others should have a right to express their opinions.
