It may sound like an odd question, as we're all teenagers, and teenagers usually don't run businesses, but have any of you ever run a business? Later this year I might start up a fresh winter vegetable delivery service of my own. I'd be doing all the work, growing the vegetables (indoors) taking orders, delivering them to customers, etc. I think it would be a good experience, as I would get skills in selling products.

So, do you mind your own business? :yeah:

I do want my own business one day but let me warn you. When working with food you need to get a license and make sure you keep it as sanitary as possible. If someone gets sick then it's a huge lawsuit against you. I'd actually advise you to start selling something else first.

I have an online business, but since most things [bank account and stuff] are 18+ most of it is in my moms name.

I know, I'll be thinking about that. I've thought of it. Lawsuits from food actually come less often than you may think.

Anyways, I've tried to think of other things to sell, but with this I can corner the market, which is virtually non-existent. Sure, you can get vegetables in winter. But usually not fresh, locally grown ones.

Yea it is actually a smart market especially with the prices raising.

I cant see a huge lawsuit even being filed against a small run operation by a teen trying to gain experience
If that ever did go to court (I HIGHLY doubt it) I bet you anything especially in Canada it would be thrown out

My parents have there own business
we've had many some have gone under, some succeeded but we didn't like, etc...
I personally have SERIOUSLY considered starting my own hotshot service i researched young entrepreneurial loans, developed a business plan, even priced out and picked the truck and gooseneck flat deck I'd buy, I already have my ticketing for dangerous goods transport...everything
but the truth is I want to go to school not go straight from HS into some business with debt

Yeah, that's kind of my thinking. Nobody would be able to prove my vegetables had anything to do with a sickness they got, and they probably wouldn't even think of it, especially if they were regular customers. Anyways, we've been eating the stuff we grow for quite a while, and nothing bad has come out of it.

And, fresh vegetables cost an arm and a leg up here in the winter, and by the time they get all the way up here they aren't even fresh anymore, so I think there's a market.

Ok I admit it I over think things and get paranoid.

I think quite a lot of us do. That was one of the first things I thought of when I came up with this idea, and I was a bit worried about it. But I've thought about it for a good while, so that helped.

I do get worried whenever money is involved.

I say go for it, you’ll be getting great experience dealing with supply and demand, will look pretty good on your cv/resume and you may even have fun in the process. You have my thumbs up for a great marketing idea!

I've thought of starting my own business, but I'd rather just go through college first.

But good luck Rex = ]
Hope things work out.
