Well, that depends on the root cause of your social anxiety. I, for example, have social anxiety because I have a mental disorder that makes any social situation a very difficult mental challenge (I often say that talking to people for me is like doing calculus), and I make a lot of social blunders as a result. Since the mental disorder is one of those that you're born with and uncurable, my social anxiety is also uncurable because no matter what I do there's a good possibility that something will go wrong and you can't know that and be completely relaxed. That's not to say that I can't reduce the amount of anxiety to a manageable level - which is usually the case for me anymore.

On the other hand, if the cause of your anxiety is something that will change with time and/or effort like general shyness, then your social anxiety will be cured when the cause is cured (or, more accurately, your social anxiety will reach the normal level since some social anxiety is perfectly normal). So it all depends on whatever is causing your social anxiety.

Now there are some medications that can help with any sort of anxiety, but they're all perscription so you'd have to talk to a professional about them. I used to take one, but after several years of working with a psycologist I got to a point where I could manage my anxiety without it. But the medicine was really helpful during those years, so I'm glad I took it even though I'm even happier that I don't need it anymore. (It caused a few very unpleasant side effects.)

So if your anxiety is so bad that you're unable to handle it very well by yourself the best thing to do is talk to a professional about it. They will be able to help you figure out the best thing for you to do.

Research if you are an empath or not. both of you. and see if those things apply to you.
