There isn't anything wrong with cracking down on drug dealers. But understand that there is so much more to being a LEO than catching dealers. If you really want to get involved with taking drug dealers off the street, you would probably enjoy working in a narcotics unit, rather than patrol. And also, the drug problem is a never ending fight just fyi.

I can't justify spending that long becoming a special agent, and only start off making $43,000 a year. I know it isn't about the money, but if I'm going to get a 4 year degree, spend 1-2 years going through the application process, going to the 5 month rigorous academy, I kind of want to make enough money to pay the bills. But if you really want to do it, make sure you make good choices starting now. They will interview neighbors, teachers, classmates, and employers. Make sure you stay away from drugs and don't do anything that will lead to a run in with police. Be thinking about what you want to major in when you get to college. They only accept candidates that have a degree in: accounting, computer science/ information, or a law degree. They also want people with a BS or BA degree in any field, and be proficient in another language.
