View Full Version : Help Quitting Weed

Hi, I'm 17 years old and have been smoking weed for a little over a year now. Other than weed I've done pretty much everything ranging from percs, codeine, alcohol, tobacco, nutmeg, DPH, DXM, LSD, LSA (morning glory seeds), mushrooms, ritalin (concerta), nitrous, salvia, poppers, valium, klonopin, ativan, ketamine, ecstasy, candyflip (Ecstasy+LSD), plus various other drugs and drug combinations.
Basically if you asked me two or three months ago what my goals are, one of them would include trying every substance on earth at least once with the exception of meth, heroin, crack, and PCP.
Luckily the only drug from the list that I've been addicted to is marijuana. The sleeping pills and ritalin were addictive but I was too scared to keep using them.
Unfortunatly as much as I love weed, it's taking over my life. I've been trying to quit but it's getting to the point where I'm giving up trying to quit. I was at my camp for 2 weeks or so where I did not touch it at all, but that's because there was none available. Once I got back to town and started hanging around my friends again, I became a full time stoner again.
Weed has turned me into a quiet peaceful person but it makes me do things that I know is wrong. Like stealing. I never did that before smoking dope but now I steal anything I see simply so I won't have to buy it and I can save that money for more pot. I was recently caught and that's kept me away from stores, but I'm stealing from my own family which IMO is a lot worse.
Anyway thanks for taking the time to read this. If anyone has any advise it would really help me out. Thanks in advance.

its not physically addictive so all you can really do is avoid it and stop smoking it. Theres no magic cure to quit weed. You just have to want to stop doing it.

Well I am thinking you don't want to go to rehab. If you do then go but if you don't I think you should....stop hanging around the friends that you use these drugs with. If you separate your bonds from them then it will be harder for you to get these substances maybe and also you will not feel pressured to use these drugs. I think that without these people you will not be exposed to these things and therefore your use should be down.
Next, find a sport, activity, or job to participate in. Stay after school for a club or join a sport this fall. If you don't have a job get one. That way you get money in which you can use for good like buying a car or saving for post-secondary education.
Also, if you get a job you have to take drug tests so maybe it may help you stay away from them by knowing that in order to keep your job you have to stay sober.
After you do this find some new friends that are sober that you have met from these activities. That way they should have a common interest and also they will be sober and that should encourage you to be sober.
Last, I would suggest to hang around your family more. If you have a good family that love you and would like to spend more time with you I suggest you do so.
One last thing, just know that using will not get you anywhere good in your life. It does absolutely nothing for you. At all.
Good luck man. I hope this helped.

quit slow. smoke a little less, then a little less, then eventually you can just try going without it. I suggest get a hobby or play a sport.

its not addictive, your not addicted; just stop doing it. At most you'll prolly crave it the week you quit, but that goes away pretty easily.
Myth: Marijuana is Highly Addictive. Long term marijuana users experience physical dependence and withdrawal, and often need professional drug treatment to break their marijuana habits.
Fact: Most people who smoke marijuana smoke it only occasionally. A small minority of Americans - less than 1 percent - smoke marijuana on a daily basis. An even smaller minority develop a dependence on marijuana. Some people who smoke marijuana heavily and frequently stop without difficulty. Others seek help from drug treatment professionals. Marijuana does not cause physical dependence. If people experience withdrawal symptoms at all, they are remarkably mild.

Why do you want to quit it?
The only reason it is illegal is because the government can't tax it.

Why do you want to quit it?
The only reason it is illegal is because the government can't tax it. what does that have to do with anything?
