In the (paraphrased) words of Demetri Martin, "glitter is the herpes of craft supplies" -- when it gets on you, it ain't coming off.

Basically, it's a nasty virus that sometimes flares up into sores. You can get it through sexual contact, even sometimes with a condom. Basically, it's annoying and means you're done for one-night stands, if you're into that. It doesn't kill you.

Yes, and not only that but 1/5 adults have it, so it really is turning into an epidemic IMO.
People really need to be more careful and not have sex with random strangers.

Eventhough herpes cannot kill you, it is currently incurable, so you've got it forever. And what you've got, when the herpes is 'active' or flares up, are nasty, open, oozing sores, that can be painful, on your penis. They eventaully heal, but come back during the next flare up. So, in addition to the physical sensation of having a wound on your penis, you have the emotional issue of being 'damaged', on your penis, no less.

And, it is extremely contagious when those lesions are active.

The big deal is that it's painful and you can never get rid of it. It may not always be active, but it's always there. When it is active, it's nasty and painful. I don't have genital herpes, but I get cold sores, which is a form of herpes, and if I got a sore on my penis like that, I would not be happy. So, yes it is a big deal, even though it can't kill you. Do you like having sores on your penis?

No, herpes doesn't kill you. But it's absolutely perminant, and gives you open blisters on your dick that may flare up without notice. Also, it's very contagious, so if you get a blowjob, or if you fuck a girl, they have it too, it's your present to them. And they may not know they have it, so when they ditch you, they'll probably pass it on to their next boyfriend, so herpes is your new present to him.

So really, it is a big deal, because it's not very fun and very easy to pass along. This is why you need to be careful with ANY type of sex - oral, anal, or vaginal.

herpies causes annoying uncomfortable and ugly breakouts on your genitals if you have genital herpies and around your mouth if you have one of the outher strains (i am not shure what the strain that forms around your mouth is called). it cannot kill you however i is quite contageous and has no known cure.
