Volleyball

I am playing volleyball this fall. Well hopefully. I have to make it through try-outs, and then I am playing. I'm not the greatest, but I'm not horrible either.

I have a small net set up in my backyard, but no one will ever play with me.

I'm looking for some ways to maybe practice on my own. I suppose I could serve it up against the side of my house.

If anyone plays, what will probably happen at tryouts? I am sure it will be different in each school, but possibly, what would happen.

I have never had to try out for sports before. Well softball, but the coach had told me that I had already made the team before tryouts even started.

my school doesn't have a boy's volleyball team, but my sister plays. i've been to one of her tryouts and they practice serving, volleying, being vocal, and see how they work together. near the end of the practice, they played a pick-up game.

i would suggest they would be looking at the following:

- your serving skills. how good is your placement? and does your serve put pressure on the other team?
- your skills of receiving serves. are you able to keep the ball up in the air for your team mate to hit it back over?
- your ability to finish? are you able to place the ball well over the net to win the point or at least put pressure on the other team.

we occassionally play volleyball in our school and those are the important aspects of the game and i would suggest are most likely the type of things they would be looking for.
