She doesn't know... and I don't want her to think I am retarded, because some people are highly against Wiccans. I also am afraid that she will think less of me because of my religion. I converted to Wiccanism in October 2007, and I think it is time I tell her.
I am afraid of what she will think!

She's your mom! Why would she think less of you just because of your religion? My view: If your mom loves you she won't care what your religion is. You're who you are and she can't stop you from choosing your own religion. She should be able to understand and if not, remind her about the freedom to practice any religion in USA.
Btw, What if people are highly against Wiccans, not all people have to be. Like peer pressure basically there, just because one person thinks its bad others think it too.
My own small rant; People need to back off with "That person's bad 'cause of this...." It's not your life back off!
ok, hope that helped a little.

Well, why do you want to tell her, what are you hoping to acomplish? And, why are you afraid of telling her?
People usually share important things with others for a reason, you haven't stated yours. Is it approval you're seeking? Acknowledgement? maybe just getting it off your chest? Ask yourself what the goals are, and the chances of them being met. Take the emotion out of it, look at it realistically.
Then, there's the q about your fears in telling her. I suspect your mom is probably an adherent of a more 'traditional' religion, and might not entirely approve of your choice? Or at the very least, not only not understand your choice, but why you're leaving whatver faith you were raised in.
Most people just sort of adopt their parents religion just because they are most familiar with it and have some sense of obligation, maybe some family tie. In your case, obviously that wasn't important, so the issue ius how to share with yor mom that you've decided against their religious values, and sought your own.
The answer is to talk very objectively about it, what is appealing about it, and why you've done it. B/c it is going against their values, be very careful not to degrade or denigrate their belief system/religion, talk only about the positives of Wiccan.
There are a lot of variables which will affect how mom reacts to the news, but if you stay positive, there's a better chance it will go well.

You know your mom. My mom is very christian and close minded, if I told her I was a wiccan she's probably just laugh at me and buy me a bible. I think you know how she'll react, and if your that serious about your religion then you should be willing to accept the consequences.

Well I'll be honest; although I don't like religion in general, I don't like highly organized fundamentalist religion the most (i.e. stupid creationists that think the Earth is only 6,000 years old) for TONS of reasons. But you don't want to hear my rants about that. I personally think any religion is just... not true; you know me people I'm a man of science :D. However if YOU choose to follow this less commonly accepted form of spirituality, all the power to you. If your parents don't agree with you, then you'll have to choose whether your beliefs are more important than their acceptance. I must agree with previous posters however, this whole Wiccan thing seems to be a phase like thing for teens that are a little more interested in Harry Potter etc. So honestly I don't see any reason to be Wiccan OR Christian. You don't need to waste that much on candles, we have electricity now :P
I don't see proof or reason to be either, but that's me. Choose for yourself if it's even worth being either, or where you put your importance in things, either acceptance by your family, or following this "wiccan fad" or seeking reason.

well most people no that there is no all seeing god, but like to believe in them because:
1. they are dieing
2. they have nothing better to do
3. they're newfie
4. Your like me and would actually like everything to go black with the feeling of flying and then recollect with vivid memories as i relive them for the next 10 trillion years. because the only other time when your whole life will flash before your eyes will be during a non-induced grande mal seizure which the memories last 5 seconds. (you will only have 1 seizure like that in your life thats not coused by anything)
5. they're all out of count chocula.

Um.... ok. I guess people really just don't want to accept the truth: when you die NOTHING HAPPENS. Ohhh boy such a big mystery; you just don't exist anymore. That's a better deal to ME than hell OR having to worship God in heaven for ETERNITY. We can't comprehend eternities because our simple human minds just can't do it. And count chocula actually RUNNING OUT is one thing I could NEVER take! :P
As for the OP, you might want to point out to your mother that with you being a witch... it's her "Christian Duty" to either stone you to death or burn you at the stake (because "God says so") and I'm SURE she'll want to follow a God that would have her do that.
